Evelyn looked a the list and shuddered.
It just had to be her, thought Evelyn with disdain. The name on the list was "Mary Lou", the large American alligator. Mary Lou was larger than the average alligator, weighing over 1,000 pounds and measuring almost 19 feet in length. She was notoriously difficult to work with, and although she was beloved by the tourists, she was the bane of all the employees. The animal bothered Evelyn in particular. The sheer size of the animal frightened her, and she found its appearance grotesque. The hard leathery skin, long black claws and large mouth with jagged teeth, perpetually with the appearance of an evil sneer, made it exactly like a monster in her mind.
"Oh, Mary Lou, " said Adam glumly, looking over her shoulder at the list. Mary Lou required cleaning, and would need sedation. Her large size made dosing difficult, and it was not unusual for her to wake up prematurely during cleaning.
"Honey, would you mind doing the cleaning this time," said Evelyn, using her best puppy dog eyes.
"Oh no, " said Adam. "I'm not falling for that again. I cleaned her last time. Its my turn to clean the habitat."
"Please, " said Evelyn, batting her eyes. "For me?"
Adam sighed. "Okay, I'll give you a chance. We'll flip a coin. You win, I'll clean Mary Lou and you can take care of her cage. You lose, she's all yours."
"Fine, " said Evelyn with a sigh. "Fair is fair. Let's do it."
"You call it, " said Adam, as he flipped the coin in the air.
