Lilly Lilith sat down next to Pink Petunia as the convicts and future sisters fed their faces.
When the magic meteorite landed in China, it began the age of magical girls. And similar stones had landed earlier in history it was suggested. Or maybe the magic just manifested different based on what the little girls on their hearts believed and went from there. Lilly didn't know. As a low-class Shattered One her only instincts had been to feed on humans and kill any MG she saw. Lilly herself wondered what the Shattered Ones were. What she HAD been before she had intelligence and freedom of will.
She watch her pinked hair airhead of a sister playing on her Magical Girl Phone (Patent Pending), while New Moon served.
"And what are you up to?" Lilly asked.
"Just playing this new video game I found online... I have to say it's kinda stupid. It has Jesus as a Neo-Nazi."
Lily blinked. "How does that even make sense?"
"It doesn't! And they have Dracula as one of the good guys against him."
"... I have no idea how to respond to that."
"I agree. I mean, Vlad Tepes' father was a member of the Order of the Dragon, a society meant to PROTECT christianity in Europe! And... it is kinda just plain stupid. I mean, having a great historical figure turn out to be evil incarnate? That trope is SO overused it's a cliche! Your mentor turns out to be evil. Your heroic ancestor turns out to be evil. The first male ancestor of humanity turns out to be evil, and the first evil human turns out to be just misunderstood."
Lilly numbly nodded. Pink Petunia had a habit of rambling like this. Shattered Ones may have been what Magical Girls fought to protect humans. But she remembered records of magical girls who had fought dragons... and they were NOT Dragon Tales and Pete's Dragon. One naive magical girl, Butterfly Flora, had gotten eaten because she thought the dragon was attacking the gold depository because it was in pain or scared. The idea that dragons had a instinctive level of greed that made the worst humans look generous only sank in when its fangs did. Thankfully he had 'mostly' swallowed her whole, if by 'thankful' you mean magical regenerating the lost parts of her body and the years of therapy on forced leave.
Looks like she wouldn't getting a shrine in the Divine Hall of Fallen Magical Girls yet... that place seemed to be almost it's own pocket world with how it expanded every time they needed space for a new shrine. Ghostly Gilda looked after the place, she didn't seem to mind. Lilly Lilith could admire the irony of them never dying of old age, but their job description meant dying was always a possibility, so they didn't overcrowd the planet with magical girls anyway.
"Okay, we're all about cliches in this place but at least we're having FUN with them right? I know the idea is taking what seems like a paragon of virtue and asking 'what if they weren't what they were cracked up to be.' But George Washington owned slaves, Gaundi as a young man didn't care for Africans, they're ALREADY not perfect! I'm just glade we're AVOIDING that kind of cliche! We have so many other cliches we're enjoying!"
Lilly Lilith blinked, Pink Petunia sometimes got like that too. At least she toned it down whenever things got serious (thought thankfully she could drive the enemy nuts with her games as easily as her friends).
