Patrick made a show of thought, after which he said, “Hmmm...I’m not sure...you have any ideas?”
“Why do you think I was asssking what you wanted to do?” asked Jack, smirking slightly. He thought about some of the possibilities before saying, "Firsssst, could I pleassse have my normal mouth back? This hissssing is driving me crazy." Pat smirked and turned to face the computer again. He pulled up Jack’s virtual model and clicked on the button next to it that said “undo previous changes”. A list of the changes he had done to Jack appeared on the screen. He undid the forked tongue and the fangs, but kept the ability for Jack to unhinge his jaw. When all that was done, he clicked the “save changes” button. Pat swivels his head back towards his friend and says, “There, that should do it.” Jack nodded, examining his now (almost) normal mouth in the mirror on the back of Patrick’s door. "Thanks," Jack said. "And now, secondly, could you get up out of that chair? I have an idea that I'd like to try." Pat obliged and let his best friend sit in front of the computer. Pat realized on getting up that he really had to pee, so he left the room and headed down the hallway to the bathroom.
Jack navigated back to the main screen and scanned it, looking for something interesting. After about 30 seconds of searching his eyes alighted on a tab that said "world changes". He clicked on it and saw that from this page he could alter the world around him and the people in it (himself and his best friend included) would change accordingly. Jack scrolled down the list, seeing fields for things such as "climate", "day length", and "physical environment", before he saw a field with a choice of options. The field was listed as "color" and had two choices: "color" and "black and white". He clicked the radio button next to "black and white" and changed the awareness options so that only he and Pat would be aware of the difference.
He then clicked on "save changes" and a dialog box popped up that said, "WARNING: THIS CHANGE MAY CAUSE ADDITIONAL CHANGES AS SIDE EFFECTS. PROCEED AT OWN RISK." Jack, willing to risk it, clicked "OK". The dialog box disappeared and then a wave came out of the webcam-looking device on the desk next to him. When the wave disappeared, everything turned grayscale over a period of about 10 seconds, including him. He looked over himself, marveling at the change before he heard the computer make a noise. Jack looked at the screen and saw a dialog box that said "Applying additional changes".
"Neat change," he heard Pat say from behind him. Jack nodded and replied, "I thought so too. But now the program's applying additional changes on its own."
"Huh, I wonder what it's doing," Pat said. "Something tells me we're about to find out," said Jack as the dialog box disappeared.
