Again you entered school, but this time you attended as a student. To make things more manageable for your ‘parents’, you were placed in the same class than your sister Emily. While it didn't take you long to accept your long time friend was now your adoptive sibling, you still had a hard time seeing Ms. McAdam as your mother. (And accepting her husband as your father was impossible, since he saw you as LESS than a pet.)
This time you were presented to your classmates as Kathrine Bastet McAdam, your middle name being a nod to a mythical figure of Serra, which gave Mr. Neil the prefect excuse to base the first lesson of the day on Bastet's story.
Legends say she was the first BeastWoman to have a soul. But unlike you, her head was just a giant cat head, preventing her from speaking, and her fur was entirely black, so a bunch of supersticious humans killed her. Displeased by this ‘the First’, Serra's main god, decended upon the misguided humans and tried to make them understand their crime.
But those humans where bulies, and instead of simply accepting defeat and promise to never mistreat any being, they tried to plead their case. "Please, don't punnish us! We didn't know she had a soul! How could we have known?"
Alas for them, all lives are sacred in the eyes of the First, even soulles ones. So the main god said "You lot are a waste of souls!" and took the wasted treasures away, planing to find them a better use.
Then, he turned his attention to the soul of Bastet and, seing how kind hearted she was, when she had been a slave all her life, he choose to make her a lesser goddness, instead of reincarnating her.
No one know what task Bastet was given, but some rumors clame she now search wasted soul, so they can be put to a better use…
You don't know why, but Mr. Neil said that last line looking intensely at Stan. The look on the teacher's face made you shiver, so much you almost feel sorry for your bully.
