"So this is how the other half lives," quipped Spencer Lawson, as she and everyone else was ushered into the Teachers' Lounge of Moon Lake High School. She couldn't help noticing that most of the floor was carpeted, there were TWO nice sofas, a decent but not large screen television set, and a small radio set up. Probably for news more than anything else she thought, noting it only had AM/FM options. The very large room also had a full size refrigerator and a microwave oven.
"I've always wondered what was in here, but certainly didn't want to find out this way," commented Eric Anderson, while sitting in a chair around one of the 6 Formica topped tables where the teachers obviously ate their meals and worked out lesson plans and other paper work.
"Feels kind of weird. Like being behind enemy lines," was Spencer's opinion, as she sat next to her boyfriend Eric.
"I don't know," replied Eric, looking around. "I've thought about going on to becoming an educator myself after graduation."
Spencer had to bite her tongue and think before speaking, since both of Eric's parents were teachers themselves. "You know, I can see that. You'd look cute in a suit with a smart bow tie," she said, before kissing Eric on the cheek. Because of her recent injuries while facing Jeremy Bower (Junior), she was the only one currently in her fursona.
"Now then young lady," began her mother, as Maggie Lawson sat down next to her daughter, "I bet you left the house without your meds."
"Well, when I called dad, he did say to get out fast," was her reply, to which Eric nodded his head in agreement.
"Thankfully, my police escort took me to the house long enough to look for you and pack a bag," said Maggie, as she reached into her purse and pulled out three bottles. Eric saw that one was an antibiotic, the second was a pain killer, but he picked up the third, not knowing what it was.
He tried silently pronouncing the very long formal name for the medication, but wasn't sure how accurate his attempt was. Eric did see Spencer's name and address on the label, along with the notation "SPECIES: WOLF/CAT."
"What's this?" he asked, handing the bottle to his girlfriend.
A look of shock crossed Spencer's were furred face as she hastily grabbed the bottle and turned to confront Maggie. "MUTH-THERR!" she said, exaggerating the syllables. Then her voice dropped down to barely a whisper as she added, "You brought my birth control pills too?"
With everyone else in the room being weres as well, the others had heard Spencer's comment, but turned to ignore the exchange.
Eric, still being a normal human (for now?), was close enough to hear it too.
"I'm still both your mother AND your consulting physician," was all she said, as Maggie put the bottles back in her purse.
"I took this morning's..." grumbled Spencer, as she laid her furry head on the table.
"There, there honey," said Eric, trying to console his girlfriend. "She's just looking out for you because she loves you."
"I know," said Spencer, while briefly raising her head long enough to kiss Eric on his left cheek. "But still..." as she lowered her head again.
Eric started running his left hand from the top of Spencer's head between her ears down to the neck line of the over sized sweat shirt she was wearing, before repeating the caressing gesture at regular intervals.
A smile soon appeared on Spencer's muzzle as her tail started wagging.
Maggie Lawson took note of this. A quick, discreet sniff confirmed Eric was still a normal 14 year old boy, but Spencer's mother decided to talk to his parents quietly at the earliest opportunity to find out what was going on between the two teenagers that she might not be aware of.
MEANWHILE...
"According to Hanson's map, we're about ten miles away from where we're to leave the car and proceed on foot," announced Bruce Peterson, for his friend and former commanding officer Jeremiah Bower, Senior insisted on driving the last leg to Moon Lake himself.
"Good. The sooner I wipe out Evan Lawson and the rest of his damn family for what they've done to my son the better," cursed the elder Bower, as he gripped the steering wheel tighter and pushed down on the gas pedal.
ELSEWHERE...
"BETA! We've got something!" shouted the voice on Evan Lawson's communicator.
In command of the company (since their Alpha was away) composed of men who were both fellow Navy SEALs AND werewolves, Lawson raised a furry paw to halt his party, before ordering the man on the other end to report.
"We're monitoring police frequencies too. A State Trooper just issued a Wants and Warrants request for a speeding Ford, but was told to stand down when it came back as being registered to Bower!"
"WHERE?" Lawson demanded to know as Peter Russo handed him a map.
Quickly checking coordinates against their current position, Lawson said, "We're about five minutes out! Alert the Moon Lake authorities. Over."
Then he secured his communicator and told the others, "OKAY PEOPLE! DOUBLE TIME! THE SOONER WE FINISH THIS, ESPECIALLY AWAY FROM CIVILIANS, THE BETTER!" The fact that his family and Spencer's boyfriend was part of that group was left unspoken.
With that, the werewolf SEALs started running after their quarry!
