None of Earth's scientists had detected the meteor until it was too late. The large, violet rock was hurling towards the Earth at incredible speeds. All of the world leaders came together and decided that, since impact was inevitable, the world's population were better off left blissfully unaware.
When the day of impact arrived, the rich and powerful retreated into underground bunkers, hoping to avoid the expected destruction.
The massive meteor entered the atmosphere over the United States on a dark and stormy night. It immediately began disintegrating into a fine, violet dust. The diminutive particles were practically invisible as they spread all over the American continents, infiltrating every house, slipping through every nook and cranny. No one was safe.
Everyone who came into contact with the extraterrestrial powder fell into a deep sleep, unable to wake up as their bodies began transforming.
The day had been like any other. You went to class, hung out with some friends, ate, and got back to your dorm room. You were just another college student, living day to day, trying to figure things out. You'd stayed up late studying, after all, finals week was coming up real soon.
"Yo, Mason," you roommate said, motioning for you to take off your headphones, "I'm gonna call it a day."
"Alright, Kyle." You replied and clicked on your desk lamp as your roommate turned the lights off.
A couple hours had passed, you'd been at your desk poring over notes and books when you suddenly felt incredibly tired.
'Maybe it's time to turn in,' you thought to yourself as you yawned. Your body felt slow and your mind foggy. You tried getting up to go to your bed, but you just couldn't move. You felt yourself slipping away, and looked at your desk, it didn't look too uncomfortable. You put your head down on the open history book and passed out instantly.
The meteor powder had slipped into your room. You and everyone else in the Western Hemisphere had begun the transformation process. Everyone was currently being transformed into some type of monster while they slept peacefully, completely unaware of the changes they'd wake up to. From aliens to zombies, the whole world would soon be a lot more colorful as the dust seemed to move West with the night.
The next morning you groggily opened your eyes and yawned. Lucky for you, you didn't have class until later that afternoon. You stretched and that's when you noticed it, something was wrong...
