"Why don't we just take a little break from magic for a little while?" said Carol.
"Yeah, I agree, " said Mike. "We don't want things to get out of control."
Get out of control! Look at me - I am a freak! How much more out of control can you get, thought Kate angrily. But she said nothing and just silently nodded her agreement.
Bobbi sighed and looked disappointed, but agreed to the break, too.
The group broke apart and went their separate ways.
Mike and Carol went to the kitchen to compare their new bodies and test their new powers. Mike tested the limits of his strength by lifting the fridge and other heavy objects. Carol applauded his efforts, massaging his large biceps. Then she tested her own powers by hovering above the floor.
She can fly! grumbled Kate silently, as she sulked and watched them from the barstool at the kitchen bar. It's just not fair.
Carol then froze something with her ice breath. Now it was Mike's turn to applaud, as Carol took a bow, careful to make sure Mike got a good look at her impressive chest.
Kate continued to just sit on her barstool, turning her glum stare towards Bobbi. She watched as Bobbi continued to play with the wand, waving it in the air and flicking it with her wrist. She couldn't understand why the others weren't more worried. That wand was dangerous. It had god-like powers. And Bobbi was playing around with it like it was a toy!
Kate carved deep clefts into the bar with her sharp claws as she continued to watch Bobbi, her long tail waving back and forth slowly behind her.
If only I could get that wand, she thought desperately. Then I could show her a thing or two. Maybe turn her into a plump, juicy little rat-girl.
Kate looked over her shoulder at Carol. She was still flirting with Mike, arm wrestling with him and pretending he actually had a chance against her. Carol was looking at Mike, but Kate knew she was also watching her to make sure she didn't try to do anything to Bobbi.
Yes, Kate would have to do something about Carol first. She would have to be smarter and rely on her superior speed to get by Carol's super strength and other superpowers. She just needed an opening, just the right opportunity, and then she could maybe .....
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, silencing all conversation and planning.
