Bobbi jumped up and walked to the door as the others stared in shock. Before they could protest, she opened the door and was greeted by the sight of several small children in costumes.
"Trick or treat!" the children chorused.
"Aw, shit!" exclaimed Kate. "I almost forgot it was Halloween."
Bobbi ignored her.
"Oh, my don't you children look adorable. What marvelous costumes," said Bobbi gaily.
"I like your costume, too, lady. Are you a magician's assistant? Where is the magician? Can he do some tricks for us?" asked a young girl.
"Actually, I am the magician tonight. And I can do real magic! Would you like to see?" asked Bobbi eagerly.
Carol was beside her in flash, gently pushing her wand hand down. "I think we have seen enough magic tonight, don't you, Bobbi?"
"Whoa!" said a young boy with excitement. "That was super fast! Did you just fly?"
"Just an optical illusion, kid. You know, movie magic, " mumbled Carol. She turned to Kate. "Do you have some candy for these fine young children?"
Kate shook her head and Carol frowned.
"What? Don't give me that look! I thought we were going out to that costume party tonight. I wasn't planning on staying home and handing candy!" said Kate defensively.
"Oh, well if we have no treats then these kids deserve a trick!" said Bobbi happily.
