“This one was even more delicious than the previous. It was scared when he saw me just before dying.” Mary said. “And I think I had enough deer for the night, let’s head back to your cabin.”
“It is our cabin.” Jeff said.
“Not if I don’t fit it anymore.” Mary said while jumping in the air and heading back to the cabin. She landed besides it and Jeff climbed down her back.
“This was so good! I would like to fly with you anytime you change into a flying animal!” Jeff said.
“I am happy that I turned into a dragon! I feel so mighty now!” Mary said.
As it was late on the night, Mary prepared a nest for her at the open field at the side of the cabin. Jeff went inside, had something to eat and came back with a blanket.
“Are you going to sleep here?” Mary asked.
“I am planning on sleeping with you today. Where do you think is safer for me to stay?”
Mary just positioned her on her nest and put her neck on the ground. Then she put her tail around her body and rested her head on it.
“You can make yourself comfortable between my head and body. This will keep us near each other like when we were both humans.” Mary said.
“I thought you were more like a dragon and didn’t see yourself as my wife anymore.” Jeff said.
“But I am. And I still feel lonely since I am not a full dragon.”
“I understand. I will sleep on you today. Maybe tomorrow you can change into something smaller and we can be inside the cabin.”
Mary agreed and Jeff climbed on her. She was so big that he was stepping on her and she didn’t even feel it. He lay down beside her head, looking straight into her football sized yellow eye.
“Good night, my love!” He said while kissing her cheek.
“Good night!” Mary said softly and then licked his face.
Jeff saw as Mary pulled a wing over them and slept just a few moments later. He thought about how their lives had changed. They were rich enough to need not to work if they needed, but they kept themselves busy so their lives could have more significance. Now that the box had appeared on their lives, he thought about living a life of experiences with the vials. Soon he was asleep and had good dreams all night.
On the morning, Jeff woke up facing the yellow eye of his wife.
“Good morning, beautiful!” He said kissing her cheek and caressing her head.
“Good morning! Was me a good place to sleep?”
“It was wonderful. You are so warm and your breathing was gently rocking me back and forth. I slept like a baby. What time is it? I can see that it is day, but I can’t say the time.” Jeff asked.
Then Mary lifted her wing and Jeff noticed that was late in the morning.
“I don’t have a watch, but it has been some time since the sun rose.”
“Are you eating breakfast?” Jeff asked.
“No, I already ate two deer last night. I don’t need any food for some time.”
Jeff climbed down his wife and went into the cabin to start his morning routine. He heard Mary standing and then her wings flapping away from him. He hurried outside and saw as she was disappearing over the trees. Puzzled, he went back inside and ate his breakfast. When he was finishing it, he heard the characteristic sound of her wings flapping and went outside when she was landing again.
“Where did you go?” He asked as soon as she folded her wings.
“Bathroom! Don’t ask!” She said self-consciously.
“Oh, okay. No more questions. What do you want to do now? You still have some dragon time left.”
