Janet's fascination with superheroes began when she was about eight years old. Her father her taken her to see Iron Man on opening day, and from beginning to end, the young girl was mesmerized. Janet's father at first thought that his daughter had merely formed a crush on the actor Robert Downey Jr, but while Janet indeed did find Tony Stark to be cute, she was more blown away by his character arc. He was a selfish, hedonistic jerk who through a personal tragedy decided to do to take responsibility for the evil he had done as an arms manufacturer and make amends by doing good instead. One scene in particular had inspired young Janet. It was during the scene where Iron Man reigned hellfire down on the Ten Rings terrorist group during their siege of Gulmira. The way that Tony Stark had just completely took control of the situation and rendered the terrorists powerless had made her heart beat with enchantment, and inspired countless dreams where she could do something similar. Becuase that's what Janet really wanted to be. She wanted to be a hero. To stick up for the little guy and stop bullies dead in their tracks. While in her wimpy teenage body she was in little position to do much good, as Superwoman, Janet was all but invincible.
She decided to fly back to Earth and become humanity's champion. That was what she wanted to do with her life. Hwe teenage doubt prevented Janet from seeing any other future but as a heroine, but Janet was quick to rationalize that in her current state, she didn't really need a job. All she needed was solar energy. Her telescopic vision and enhanced hearing even from the moon allowed Janet to witness countless tragedies and horrors going on before her right now. But where to go first?
