Abby and Co. were summoned to the maternity ward of Horizon Light Hospital. Although a number of infant Animalians were being born that were conceived last fall, the request was for Abby and Samson in particular. Though why was quickly apparent when they saw the names near two doors in the ward: Delilah and Calamity.
After knocking on the door, Abby and Co. were witness to a surprising sight. Delilah in one bed on the right with Red Cloud standing next to her while Calamity was in the bed on the left and Thunder standing next to hers. But what was most surprising was the two young foals staggering around something that looked like a cross between a corral and a playpen. In one such construction at the foot of Delilah's bed was a snowy white filly, while the other one at the foot of Calamity's bed was a coal black colt.
"Wow," said Sophie, amazed, "they're walking already?"
"It's not uncommon." Answered Malice, "Bash and Bell are already crawling, even though they're only four months old."
"It's also because foals have to learn how to walk, and subsequently run to escape from predators who might be attracted to the birthing." Replied Delilah.
"So what are their names?" Asked Simon, trying to keep a good distance away from the foals, not knowing how they would react to his scent.
"Mine is named Aurora." Answered Delilah, as her new daughter clambered up onto her lap, obviously for feeding.
"And mine is named Umbra." Replied Calamity, baring her breast as her son also climbed up for feeding.
"Probably because of the Solar Eclipse that is happening this week." Said Sarah.
"We've been seeing news reports on the upcoming eclipse, and it helped us decide on the names." Replied Calamity while Umbra began nursing.
"But we'll be making sure to raise our foals right." Said Delilah, somewhat dignified. "No foal of ours will be copying that ridiculous television show."
"I don't blame you." Replied Abby.
