The IAC Flight Games, unlike many other events at the IAC, were nothing ever seen before, mainly because those who flew didn't have to use vehicles to achieve flight. Also, many bird Animalians were capable of doing things that even the most advanced fighter jets were incapable of doing.
Synchronized Flight was similar, in some ways, to dance contests seen on TV (other than Dancing with The Stars). In other ways, it was similar to stunt flying. It involved performing aerial acrobatics in time to a certain song selected by the judges, as well as matching said aerial acrobatics to the music. It was not a surprise to find most songbirds, hummingbirds, and similar birds in this event.
Another event was also a throwback to the feral age, in a way. Predatory bird Animalians had to swoop down, grab a certain "pog", as it would be later called, with their feet, carry it a certain distance, then drop it on a bullseye target on the ground. Points would be awarded on how close the pog to the center, in a similar way to Curling during the winter Olympic Games. What made it more interesting was a human-shaped silhouette, supposedly inspired by an Ancient Greek legend on how one famous Greek philosopher was, apparently, killed by an eagle dropping a turtle on his head, said eagle having mistaken him for a rock.
There were also some events based off of standard running events such as baton pass, marathon, cross country running, sprinting, and similar events. While many birds that could fly fast, but not for long periods of time, signed up for the Sprint Flight, other, slower yet more enduring flyers signed up for the cross country flying.
There was also an obstacle course of sorts at the Flight Games. It involved getting through gaps/holes in specially designed scenery, such as trees and rocks, and crossing the finish line in the shortest time possible. There were variations of this, such as more obstacles per ten feet for birds like the hummingbirds, to only one obstacle per ten feet for less nimble/graceful birds. This was often divided into similar classes that the Bodybuilding Competition went by, such as lightweight for Hummingbirds, and so on.

There were a number of surprises during the Flight Games, mainly for the visitors. For example, Miss Robinson, as well as her mate Zeus, did surprisingly well at Synchronized Flight, earning a gold medal, though Miss Robinson chalked it up to her years of experience in ballet, and how well Zeus could follow her lessons.
Another was how well Rift and Jet did at both middleweight Obstacle Course Flight (silver medals) and Aerial Baton Pass (gold medals), though they chalked it up to the spiritual bond they shared between them.
The IAC Flight Games were something that was never done before, and thus was something to look forward to at every future IAC.
