"I don't think I feel too good... mom?" Jennifer managed to croak out, cringing at the sound of her voice that wasn't hers.
"Oh dear," the woman came up to Jennifer and put a hand on her forehead, "Hm, you don't seem to have a fever, but you don't look well. Well, I suppose one day off won't hurt your grades." she said, more to herself than to Jennifer. "And those other boys have been giving you trouble lately," she mumbled to herself.
Jennifer was amazed, her mother would have never let her stay home from school, not that she'd ever had a reason to, after all she was the queen bee of Horton High.
"Ok, well you get back into bed and I'll call the school to let them know. Ok sweetie?"
Jennifer whispered back a faint "okay." Maybe this was all a nightmare, maybe she was still asleep in her own bed, in her own bedroom, in her own house, in her own body. She laid down on the bed and tried to fall asleep, hoping and praying she'd wake up back to normal.
But she didn't.
She couldn't even fall asleep. She tossed and turned, all too aware of her new center of gravity. Her lanky arms and legs seemed to refuse to get comfortable and her glasses kept digging into her face. Frustrated, she sat up in bed and looked around once more. The place was a pigsty, even in the dark, and it didn't smell much better either. For the first time since Kyle had hung up on her she looked down at herself and immediately regretted it. Without her ample bosom she had an unobstructed view of herself. Bony arms stuck out of a tee shirt that seemed a size too big and her hands were large and just as gaunt as her face. She grimaced and looked away, that was enough grossness for now.
