Enough was enough. If Harold didn't get help right away, she'd go native, and she wasn't thrilled with the prospect of having the mind of an insect. Throwing caution to the wind, she raced out of her hiding spot, only to realise that she wasn't using her legs, but her wings. What scared her the most about this was how natural it felt, almost like it replaced walking in her mind... she quickly casts aside that terrible thought, running... or flying, for help.
The swap gathering looked and sounded nothing like it did a few minutes ago. The bustle of the crowd was replaced with the grunts and wails of animals, and aside from a few passed out individuals, there wasn't a human in sight. In fact, the only conscious creature that looked even close to human was an anthropomorphic cat cradling in the fetal position. It was clear that most of the animals had Gone Native, what with the wolf carrying a limp pine marten in its jaws, hummingbird flying just out of reach of a crocodile wearing the remnants of a red shirt, and a herd of cows being chased by an enormous creature Harold had never seen before. More horrifying, however, were the creatures holding their heads in terror, some of them simply going limp with soulless, feral eyes. A fate that Harold knew was just around the corner.
In fact, it only took a few seconds for her head to feel swimmy. Was this the first sign of Going Native?! Petrified, Harold repeated her personal information along with simple arithmetic, but found that she could remember everything. No, it was only her face that was changing, as she felt a mounting pressure on the top of her head, her hair shedding as her skull cracked into a new shape. She felt herself drool as her teeth morphed into two protruding mandibles, and her vision became foggy. Lights were blindingly bright, and she could see much further, but everything immediately in front of her was blurry. Which was probably why she flew straight into a figure with a gas mask, having shrunk so small that they never even budged. She heard a muffled noise, before smelling an oddly calming smoke. It smelled like a peaceful campfire, and it was calming... so calming... she was out before her body hit the ground.
