Patrick was happily skipping out of the doctor's office, holding his mother's hand. Patrick had just found out that he, like so many people, was a carrier of the clown gene.
Patrick loved clowns, they were funny, had fun, and brought joy and happiness to the world. Sure there were twisted perversions of clowns, but Patrick wanted to be a true clown. He even chose his clown name, Patches.
Patrick's mom, while glad to see her son so happy, couldn't help but worry. Sure the clown gene was better understood than it used to be, but that didn't make it less difficult. Her baby wouldn't just change physically, but mentally as well.
Patrick had been having headaches recently, a brain scan as part of his visit showed that his brain was changing too. While uncommon among those who were carriers of the clown gene, it did happen. However, Patrick had been given a few pills that were specifically designed to completely dull the pain his body would feel while changing.
Arriving home, Patrick ran to his sister's room.
Unlike the stereotypical relationship between teenage girls and younger brothers, Patrick had a very close bond with his older sister.
Lucy, or Lu-Lu as she wanted to be called know, was largely responsible for Patrick's love of clowns, as she herself was a clown fanatic in the best possible ways.
Patrick was too young to remember what his sister looked like before her transfermatiom. Lu-Lu was a 17 year old, attractive whiteface clown with a big purple, nose, a blue muzzle and circles around her eyes. Her feet were average clown size, but still pretty big. Her hair had become a naturally stringy blend of blue and purple. Which formed the aesthetic of her wardrobe. This earned her the nickname of "Lu-Lu purple and blue".
Lu-Lu smiled as she saw her little brother running towards her. Getting up from her computer, Lu-Lu met her brother halfway, happily scooping her baby brother up into her arms.
"Lu-Lu, I'm going to be a white face clown like you!" He grinned.
"Oh That's so exciting. I remember how fun it was to become a clown!" Lu-Lu said in a Minnie Mouse voice, nuzzling him with her nose as it honked. Patrick laughed, which was Lu-Lu's favorite thing about being a clown, being able to make her beloved baby brother laugh.
"Lu-Lu, I want you to help me become the best clown I can be!" Patrick said. "I would be honored to help my sweet baby brother reach his full funny clown potential!" Lu-Lu smiled as she twirled around her room, still holding her brother in her arms before plopping the two of them down on her bed.
Their Mother, Mary smiled as she left her children to their own devices. It gave her peace of mind knowing Patrick would have his sweet and bubbly big sister helping him navigate through this transitional phase of his young life.
