YourTruth.Now gets popular

added by a 5 years ago O

No one on the forum could figure out what was the site or its purpose. In a matter of hours, it had quickly become the top post on the forum and numerous other posts had spawned completely devoted to figuring out the mysterious link. The creepy part for most was that no matter which computer was used or where it was used, no one could access the site more than once. That combined with the anonymity of the website and its cryptic dialogue left many on the forum to consider the unknown: aliens, magic and worst of all, politics.

"Yourtruth.now?" William pondered. "Sounds like a crappy self-help book." The raven haired 19 year old readjusted his glasses. William was the textbook definition of the know-it-all. Excelling in academics meant that he began to truly belief that he was better than most. Becoming a conspiracy theorist only furthered that belief for him. Thinking that he had an understanding of the world that the general public didn't gave him an almost unrivalled ego. It was a problem not even his parents could fix.

"Any good theories about it?" Johnathan asked. Being William's closest friend and ally from childhood meant that he too had been sucked into the "war against delusion" as they called it. While not as intelligent, he had a passion for the unknown that could not be quelled.

"Nah, just the obvious culprits. My money's on the lizard people. How else would they know who's using the computer, no matter where they go?" William responded.

"Whatever, just click on the link," Nicholas stated. "I need a new good story or my editor's gonna kill me." The chestnut haired man was the same age as William and Johnathan, but had dropped out of college due to his more rebellious and anti-mainstream nature. The only reason his parents didn't care was that they hated "the globalists" almost as much as Nicholas did and we're perfectly okay with him instead getting a job at a "news" network that pedalled all the theories Nicholas was a fan of. While a terrible and untrustworthy organization, it supported the family's beliefs and that was good enough for them.

"I'm not clicking on it. I don't want them tracking us too," William reasoned.

"Dude, that's what I'm here for," Dillon explained as he moved William out of his seat and began loading his VPNs on the computer. Effectively the token asian in the group, Dillon originally had a hard time convincing the William, Johnathan and Nicolas that he wasn't a globalist like the others. It took many months for them to realize that he was one of the "good immigrants" that were coming into the country, as they called him. After all, Dillon was raised by incredibly strict, conservative parents. They were old fashioned and deeply rooted in their cultural beliefs and it had it's effect on Dillon. The result was a passionate asian conspiracy theorist that was at the top of his class in their college while still being cultural and politically conservative than most.

It didn't take long after Dillon had loaded his software on the computer for him to quickly hit the suspicious link. "What the hell Dillon?!" William shouted. "I wasn't ready yet!" He explained as he fumbled with his camera. They had quickly realized from the forum posts that the foursome had to record their experiment, since they couldn't do it again.

"Please, you never would've been ready," Dillon reasoned, hearing William's apphrehension in his voice. Disregarding his overly cautious friend, he quickly clicked "yes" to the first question, as they had all seen it in depth many times already. No one even dreamt of clicking the "no" option, and they didn't question why.

The four felt a chill go down their spines after seeing the words "4 souls seek the truth" hauntingly glide across the screen. Johnathan immediately picked up a cloth from the table and draped it over the camera. The four looked at each other, not paying attention to the new question on the screen.

"Well, there's no point in stopping now," Nicholas stated, echoing the thoughts of the other four boys. They turned to the screen for Dillon to answer the first question.
