“You two sit tight I need to go talk with Katie,” Lisa and Ann nodded as Kellie got off the couch. Katie smirked as she saw the overwhelmed look on her fiancés face. “You doing okay hon,” she smirked.
Kellie let out a deep breath as she turned back towards where Lisa and Ann sat. “I’m okay,” she sighed. “But wow those two are something else. I still don’t get why the ring made ME those twos sister.” Katie’s face broke into a sad smile as she gazed at her fiancé. “Let me show you something,” she said sadly, reaching for an old photo album. Kellie nodded as she now gazed at the various old family photos. As Katie stopped on a picture of her birth mother, Kellies jaw dropped.
“Oh my god Katie,” she exclaimed. “I....I look like your mom!!!”
“Yeah a little,” Katie sighed. “Your hair is a little darker and your nose and lips are a little different but yeah, you two do look pretty similar.” Kellie gazed slack jawed at the youthful picture of Katie’s birth mom. The woman appeared to be smiling happily in the picture. She shivered slightly as she gazed at the woman, their appearances were almost uncanny. “Katie,” she whispered. “Why have you never shown me a picture of your mom?”
Katie shrugged as she sadly stared at her fiancé. “I don’t know,” she mumbled. “To be honest, it’s hard to think about her now. She died shortly after I was born. Lisa...Lisa has been my mom since, so I never really got a chance to know her. I’m...I’m sorry I never showed you, I just haven’t thought about her.”
Kellie looked back down at the picture before looking at Katie. Kellie had never seen her fiancé look so downtrodden. The girl sadly looked down at the picture in Kellies hands, a look of pain etched across her face. “Kat,” she whispered. “Listen...I get why you never showed me. It must of sucked not really knowing your mom. I am glad you showed me now. It definitely explains a lot of things.”
Katie giggled as she looked at Kellie. “Yeah guess it does,” she said. “It’s also why I want you to spend the weeeknd with those two, without me.”
“Wait what,” Kellie exclaimed. “You want me to watch those two all weekend?”
“Think of it more as a bonding experience and a chance to be a big sister.”
Kellie frowned narrowing her eyes as she looked at Katie. “I have no experience being a big sister to anybody,” she snorted. “And besides those two seem to be getting along pretty well now.” Almost on que Katie and Kellie could now hear Ann and Lisa arguing again.
“What does being in high school have to do with hanging out with you this weekend,” Lisa exclaimed.
“I’m just saying that maybe you would have more fun with girls your age,” Ann said calmly. “The rest of us are in high school. Your still in eighth grade. Maybe....maybe you would be more comfortable doing things with other eighth graders.”
“You just want me out of the way so you can hang out with Kellie, Felicia, and Jackie Ann.”
“No I’m saying that we’re probably going to be doing something that may be too mature for you Lisa.”
“I’m very mature for my age Miss the darkness is my only friend.”
“Your not acting very mature Miss the world revolves around me because I’m so special.”
Kellie sighed as Katie tried to suppress her laughter. “Oh my god these two are going to wear me out,” Kellie sighed. “Seriously how do keep sisters from fighting?” Katie shrugged as she began to laugh. “No idea Kel,” she laughed. “But I do know your a natural. You can do this, I know you can. Just try to have a little bit of fun okay?”
“Ugh fine,” Kellie sighed. “But you owe me a dinner date after this.” Kellie smiled, gently kissing her fiancé on the cheek. “Of course,” she said warmly. “I owe you a few dinners, plus I’ll take care of your laundry.” Kellie smirked as she now began to turn towards Ann and Lisa. “So if I’m here what are you doing this weekend?”
“I’ll think of something,” Katie mused. “I have an idea of what I’m doing. Nothing crazy, just need to get some work done around our house.” Kellie smiled, blowing a kiss to Katie before trying to once again play peacemaker between Lisa and Ann. Katie smiled as she watched Kellie now try to keep the young teens from fighting.
“You going to be okay Katie,” Gloria asked tentatively. Katie smiled, nodding at her little sister. “Yeah I’ll be fine,” she said. “I have some schoolwork to take care of plus I might stop by to see Merlin to ask him some questions.”
Gloria nodded solemnly slowly gazing out at the living room. “So what do you want me to do with those two?”
“Well,” Katie said thoughtfully. “Kellie will be here all weekend. You, your friends, Kellie, Lisa and Ann should just have fun. The spell that made them like this will be over by Sunday. I’ll be back then to check on all of you and take Kellie home.”
Gloria nodded before giving her sister a quick hug. “Thanks again Katie,” she smiled. “Hopefully the rest of 5e weekend goes well.”
“It will don’t worry now have fun,” Katie grinned at her sister, giving her a final wave before vanishing into thin air.
