While there was a lot of excitement going related to Dinotopia, there were other summer events that were going to happen. Namely, tourist season was opening for the Animalian colonies and it was Animalia Ambassadoira's duty/pleasure to visit the colonies and do episodes showcasing each colony's uniqueness. And after Heather's wedding was done, it was time to get started on it.
The group met at Abby's house, which had the most room for them to talk. After all, there were two new members with JC and Pauline's uplifting. "Ok, what's our first colony to visit?" asked Abby, as she passed out refreshments.
"Easy, Mieni Atoll," said Sophie, "I've been wanting to go to the beach. And with so many Dinotopians going, we'll have the opportunity for great footage."
"That'll be fun, but let's not make our stay in Mieni too long," said Simon, "We've already shown a lot of Mieni and we have three other colonies to cover this summer. Four if one of the Dintopian colonies is done."
"I think we've got time," said Malice, "I mean, we have till September, right?"
"August and you know it," said Sarah.
"Not to mention you two still have to do your parts in the Miss Farmhand competition," said Abby, "Which also means me and Samson can't be away too long."
"So are we planning on week-long vacations or just long weekends?" asked Jessica.
"I think that depends on the colony," said Simon, "Mieni has already gotten a lot of footage so we don't have to do a lot for that. We've already been down to Vilcabamba as well."
"That was before it was completed," said Travis, "It's fully-developed now and it's got a lot more to show."
"I want to go to the rainforest," said JC, "I think I'd really like it down there.
"Don't worry, we'll go there," said Sophie.
"I think the two colonies that deserve a week each would be the two African colonies," said Roland, "We didn't go there for spring break."
"We didn't really do much of anything for spring break," said Samson.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the Lion King show," said Sarah, "Apparently, the first time they did it, it was so successful that they're making it a bimonthly thing."
"Twice a month?" asked Travis in surprise.
"No, once every two months," said Sarah, "At least for this summer. They wouldn't want to make everyone bored and tired of it. We should definitely schedule to be there during the June performance."
"That'll mean moving up the Maelewano visit sooner than we expected," said Sophie, "Ok, so far I'm seeing it as first Mieni Atoll, then Maelewano. Which is next?"
"That depends on which is hotter: Egypt or Brazil," said Malice. Being a husky came with a few disadvantages, namely the thick fur that was more built for colder climates.
"I think with Brazil it's let about heat than humidity," said Pauline.
"Like that makes it better," said Malice.
"We shouldn't visit New Zerzura when it's too hot," said Simon, "Summers in the desert are not cool at all."
"So earlier, before it gets too hot," said Abby.
"Do we have to visit Vilcabamba last?" asked JC.
"Well, there is the possibility of us splitting up to see these colonies," said Jessica, "Nobody said we have to go as a group."
"I think the African colonies deserve a group visit," said Roland, "But it's not very far between Maelewano and New Zerzura as the pterosaur flies."
"I wouldn't recommend trying to fly between the two colonies on your own," said Jessica, "There are at least three countries in-between and there are probably some people who will shoot down a pterosaur if they see it flying above them."
"Still, it's a short flight comparatively," said Roland, "Particularly by plane."
"Not short enough to commute, but I think we could divide our time between New Zerzura and Maelewano if we have to," said Abby.
"Of course, we still need to check with our parents, figuring in the farming competition, that sort of stuff," said Sarah.
"We'll get it figured out," said Sophie. She was really looking forward to vacationing as a pterodactyl.
