The sky was so blue, the air so fresh. Richard Robbins flew to the window sill.
His Chronivac had worked perfectly. He was the first robin of spring. First, Richard's clothing had vanished.
Then his hands and arms reshaped into wings. Next his feet and legs changed into bird feet. He balked, and his mouth hung open, all Richard's teeth fell out. Then his gums hardened and thrust out of his lips. His chest thrust outward, and his body reshaped. Then he sprouted feathers all over. On his chest, the downy feathers were red, and elsewhere a gorgeous blue. He began to shrink to bird size, and chirped excitedly. He couldn't wait to try out his wings, and soar into the air. He fluttered around the room, before flying to the window sill.
Richard flew high over his house, and then headed toward the woods and the pond. He was actually flying it was incredible. He dove toward the pond to see his reflection in the still pool water. It was so exhilarating. Suddenly, he was hit. His wings snapped, and he was pulled out of the sky into the maw of a giant frog? NOOOOOOOOOOO!
The frog's mouth tightened around Richard, and began to move back and forth grinding, and crushing him. He tried to call out for help, but it only sounded like a muffled squawk. He lost consciousness.
Back in Richard's bedroom, his computer monitor was flashing. A voice crackled over his computer's speakers, "ERROR. CHRONIVAC ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT"
