Cutting Your Losses

added by hydrargyrism 5 years ago A BM

Finally understanding the severity of your situation, you decide you need to get this thing off your face right now, regardless of the cost. You grab hold of the trunk with both hands and immediately start yanking on it as hard as you can. You strain your arms and neck, breathing in as much of the stale rubbery air as your captor allows, but you don't seem to make any progress, nor does the elephant even react to your struggle. Just as you begin to worry that you may have already squandered your chance to get free, you suddenly feel as much as hear a loud, rubbery *SHYUMP* as your mouth pops loose of the latex trunk's suction.

You cough and take several gulping breaths, eager to take in the fresh air. As you continue pulling, your hands finally begin to move away from your face, inching the trunk backwards. But just as before, the trunk remains attached from your upper lip to right between your eyes, and you feel a strange stretching sensation as it pulls part of your face away with it. You're horrified as you watch your flesh slowly distend and what used to be your nose take up more and more of your vision. As it stretches further and further and becomes more cylindrical, you falter as you wonder once again if you're making the right decision. The elephant isn't eating you like the wolf. Maybe it will just cover part of you in latex like the other man, and you can work to get it off after you have a chance to escape. That wouldn't be so bad, right? Just then, you feel your earlobe brush your shoulder. No, you're not sure any of this is reversible, or how far it will go. You have to keep resisting.

With your renewed determination, you plant your feet, thrust your arms forward, and push back with your legs with one solid shove. There's a sudden POP, and your face comes free of the elephant's snare. You and the elephant both tumble backwards away from each other. You are even more disoriented by the strange sensation of your new features flopping around as you hit the ground and roll a couple feet. Still full of adrenaline, you don't stop to think as you scramble back onto your feet. You look for the elephant and see that it's partly splashed out into a latex puddle from the impact and isn't regaining its composure as nimbly as you. Seeing your opportunity, you turn tail and bolt as fast as you can.

You've never sprinted so hard in your life. You try to ignore the feeling of your now giant ears being pushed against the sides and back of your head by the wind and look past the mass of flesh protruding from your face as you absentmindedly hold it against your torso with your hand to keep its motion from distracting you. Don't think about it. Keep running. Faster. Focus on your legs. They're just as they've always been. You're okay, just escape. Run. You'll be fine as long as you keep moving. Keep it up. Just a bit...

As you reach a lit clearing, the exertion of the whole ordeal finally catches up to you, and you stumble as your legs flag. Spent, you barely remain upright as you slow down to a halt. You hunch over with your hands on your knees just to keep standing and take gasping breaths as your throat and chest burn. You look around and don't see any signs of life, latex or otherwise, and decide you're safe enough now for a quick rest. Ready for the worst, you pull out your phone and decide to take stock of the situation.

Turning on the camera, the image that greets you is absolutely alien. The middle of your face is completely taken up by the very elephantine trunk that extends down about two and a half feet and ends towards the lower part of your stomach. Though already plainly in your vision, you can't help but cross your eyes to try to get a better look at it. It seems to be the same color as the rest of your face and looks like normal flesh, but has a very faint sheen. You shudder as you realize the distinction is very reminiscent of the latex flesh of the monster you just escaped from, but not nearly so pronounced. You hesitantly reach your free hand up towards your brow and touch the top of the trunk with two fingers. It feels fleshy and, when you stretch out some of the wrinkles that band it, very smooth, but not quite rubbery as you feared. You ease the rest of your trembling hand to cup around it and slowly move it down the length towards your nostrils. It's slightly more sensitive than you expected, and you involuntarily twitch it at the sensation as you reach the end. Realizing you can probably move this thing quite a bit if you tried, you focus on curling it back. However, after a few attempts, all you can do is more twitching and jerking. Maybe it will take time.

You move your attention back to the camera and your ears. As your turn your head side to side, it looks like the elephant didn't fully steal those from you, for better or worse. Though they're now slightly larger than your head, they still have some of the curves and folds of human cartilage, but are more stretched, flattened, and slightly angular like an elephants. Their color seems to be returning to match the rest of your skin. Maybe you got away before it finished whatever it was doing? But other than the color, their form remains the same.

The ears also have a slight sheen to them, almost imperceptible if you weren't looking closely. You reach reach up to feel the fleshy extensions and find them to be a bit sensitive like your trunk. With their added length, you find them much more pliable than they used to be. You fold them back and forth and flop them around a bit in horrified curiosity, shuddering at the subtle, pleasant sensations they produce.

Stopping and taking in the entire image, you just look... odd. Not quite fully elephant, but certainly not human. You almost wonder if it would have been better to resign yourself to whatever the latex elephant had in store for you rather than ending up just looking like a freak. You don't want anyone to see you like this, but you're not sure you would even be recognizable if someone you knew saw you. You need to get back to the task at hand, but it's all a lot to take in stride.

Forgetting yourself, you stand there poking and prodding at your new additions until...
