Thirty minutes later, everyone had finished the experiment.
Well, everyone except for Julia and David.
For some reason, the results of their experiment were wrong. The reaction of the scales to the different substances was totally different from what the other students saw with their samples.
“What the hell!?! We followed the instructions. But this thing doesn't work,” Julia said, throwing away the small spoon she was using.
“Problems?” the teacher said, walking in front of them.
David sighed.
“Yes. There is something wrong with these scales, ” he said, showing the old man the mixture.
The teacher looked at the chemical substance David was showing him.
“Are you sure you followed the instructions? This kind of thing can happen if you put something that contains human DNA in it,” he said, sitting on a chair in front of the table.
“We only used the scales,” Julia said, checking the paper with the instructions.
“I'm sorry. But the only possible explanation is that you accidentally contaminated the sample with your hair or dead skin. I don't think that those scales belonged to a 'human lizard',” he said, trying to sound funny.
Julia sighed.
“What does that mean?” she asked, silently saying a prayer.
The teacher sighed.
“You know what this means. Sorry, but you fail,” he said.
Then he stood up and walked away.
