There was a slight gap between the wall and another wall. Someone who wasn’t as astute as Ryan would have completely missed it.
“Hell, yeah. Secret passage!” he crowed triumphantly, his slender body easily fitting through. The mages followed suit, clutching their robes tightly so they didn’t get caught on the rocks.
Nicolai, however, struggled. The sound of rocks screeching against his heavy armour as he sidled through made the others wince. The shrieking sound around them did not cease until finally he made it through the tight gap. His enchanted armour looked as pristine and undamaged as it had been before, completely unscratched.
“Please, let’s not go back that way,” Marceline whined, clutching her ears.
Kit was looking around frantically, worried she might’ve missed the sounds of a monster amidst the dreadful noise.
“Agreed. I thought I was about to get stuck at the end there,” Nicolai said straightfaced.
He was always so serious when they actually got into the dungeon. Normally it was reassuring, knowing his mighty body and confidence was there to back them up. But now it felt strangely cold.
Another light orb was flung high, illuminating the secret cavern they’d stumbled upon.
