But for once Nicolai seemed stumped on just a simple task.
It was no curse. It was just a simple enemy. But one who held their ally trapped within. Normally they’d just slay the cube and hope to save Dylan. But who knew what kind of dastardly magic this cube had on it?
Nicolai and Marceline just stared at their trapped companion.
Dylan’s eyes flicked back and forth between his two friends. He could feel his body tingling all over. But all could see was his nose and just barely his thumb. One arm had been outstretched when he landed in the slime. It was too bad he couldn’t move his head. Otherwise he might’ve noticed his bare skin starting to turn purple.
His friends noticed, but were unable to do anything but watch. As his hand turned more purple, it also became translucent. It was like Dylan was becoming made of a similar jelly to that which made up the gelatinous cube. Thick and goopy, all Dylan noticed was his hand no longer tingling. Well, he did notice one other thing: the burning need to breath building in his lungs was gone. He wasn’t breathing ... and yet ... he didn’t need to either!
Dylan felt fine and that worried him. The tingling was growing more intense everywhere, spiking in his now handless-arm and a few spots elsewhere, before fading away. It wasn’t until his nose began to turn purple, the tingling growing more and more intense in it as it turned translucent, and finally dropped from his face that he realized what was happening...
