The Magic Shop

The truth will become yours

added 5 years ago O Magic Reality alteration

Noah had walked into the magic shop not expecting to find much. He wasn't really into magic that much after all. He thought it was all just illusions and party tricks meant to entertainment children. The only reason Noah even entered the shop was because it just opened and he wanted to see if they had anything not involving magic that may be cheap.

This store had literally appeared overnight and Noah had become extremely curious. As he looked around, he spotted a lot of things that looked out of place. There were common kitchen appliances, some lamp that looked like something out of Aladdin, a remote, and so many other odd objects to have in a magic shop.

Finally something caught his eye as he spotted a brown book. He picked it up and it simply read "Journal of Fact" on the cover. He flipped through the pages and found it all to be empty. He smiled and figured he had wanted a journal for a while. This one looked like it had a ton of pages and he thought the title for it would be funny.

He went to the counter with the journal and started talking with the old man behind the counter.
"I'd like this please." Noah said.

"Ah, The Journal of Fact. That's a mighty powerful object son, are you prepared for the consequences?" He responded.

Noah was confused by the old man's question so he just nodded his head.

The old man smiled and requested a couple bucks that Noah easily gave up.

Noah left the shop with the book in hand and the old man smiled. He knew Noah had no idea what he was getting into, but the traveling magic shop was all about creating chaos. As Noah rounded the corner the magic shop vanished as it began to look for another place to cause chaos.

Noah got home to find his adoptive family busy setting up party supplies. It was his sorta-sister Tina's birthday today. He was adopted by this family when he was five and as such he always felt left out. His "parents" never really treated him with the same love as they did with their own kids. Case in point, they were going all out for 15 year old Tina's birthday while his fifteenth was a lot less explosive.

Noah walked upstairs, plopped on his bed, and stared into his mirror. He was a tall, blond, 18 year old senior in high school. His real family dropped him off at an orphanage when he was barely a year old and he was adopted years later. It was only when he was 10 that he overheard why he was adopted. Margaret McCoy and Steven McCoy thought they couldn't have kids, but after he was adopted they found out they could.

The ginger bastards had three kids after Noah and he was always the most ignored. There was 17 year old Stacy, 15 year old Tina, 10 year old Phil, and 2 year old Heather. All of them had curly hair and freckled faces and an attitude towards Noah. They all kind of knew collectively that Noah was an outcast. They still liked him and hung out with him to a degree but they treated him more as a friend who wouldn't leave more than a brother.

Noah then remembered what he had bought at the magic shop and pulled out the journal.
"Well," He said to himself. "I have a lot to get off my chest so I might as well start now."

He picked up a mechanical pencil and opened to the first page. He was about to start writing when he noticed an inscription on the back of the cover.
"To whom it may concern: You have purchased The Journal of Fact. This is a powerful artifact that can alter reality itself. Whatever written down will become the truth. If something is written that is the truth, nothing will happen, but if a lie is written, reality will change to make that lie always true. Anything written can be erased but if that same thing is written a second time it will alter the writers mind to also believe it to be true. If someone else other then the owner writes in the book, the writer will still be the only one aware.
Use this power wisely."

Noah was baffled that anyone would take the time to engrave such nonsense into the start of a book. "There is no way this could be real, right?" Noah thought to himself. He was about to start writing what had happened today again but he couldn't get over that message. He decided the only thing he could do was prove it wasn't true.
"I'll just write something I know isn't true and then I'll know for sure." He said.

Noah then wrote down "____________" and suddenly felt reality changing around him. He realized what was happening as his lie became true. What did Noah write?
