Jeff took the stairs in two, so hectic to get back to his computer. Running to his room and almost slamming the door behind him, Jeff quickly sat down at his computer to figure out why his beard had grown back so fast, and why his mom had acted like he had always had one in the first place.
Looking at the computer, Jeff saw the chronivac program had rebooted itself after finishing a software update. Upon opening, the program provided a brief summary of updates which had been performed as well as a link to a complete list of all changes, which Jeff followed.
Along with some basic bug fixes, of note a permanent reality check feature had been added which, as it was named, altered reality to suit the changes selected by a user in order to avoid unwanted detection of changes by others.
According to the update, the most recent alteration made to reality by the chronivac was reinstalled to coincide with the change in programming.
"That explains my beard growing back" Jeff thought to himself. It appeared that any changes Jeff made from here out would not have to worry about detection by other people.
