Toni had made up her mind. Of course, she had the sense to place a time limit on the change. Just the weekend. That should be enough to see how the Chronivac really worked and what effect it would have on her life. She also decided not to change her life prior to that point. In other words, no one would know she had changed, because the change would only take place from that point forward.
She wanted something somewhat drastic, but manageable, and something that could be hidden if need be. Therefore, to simplify matters, she decided to become something humanoid. However, that did not mean life as she knew it would not change much for the next two days. In a sense, changing her species was a rather radical change, since she would no longer be truly human.
Toni hurriedly got up from the computer and stripped her clothes off, ready to admire the changes as they took place in front of her full-length mirror. The Chronivac program was still counting down: 25...24...23...
The anticipation in and of itself was intoxicating, but Toni cautioned herself not to get too excited. After all, what if nothing happened? She would feel absolutely ridiculous.
9...8...7...
As the numbers flashed in single digits, Toni's eyes strayed up to the selection bar where she had indicated what species she wished to become.
4...3...2...
When the timer hit zero, Toni felt a strange sensation in the pit of her stomach. Was it psychosomatic? Or was she really going to become an entirely different creature?
