Whatever it was that Taylor was going to say is suddenly interrupted by another new arrival. You both look at the front door as another women in Camp Counsellor uniform walks in, it seems your little act is going to have to continue.
“Ah, hello Brooke” She then looks at Taylor “Taylor. I’m surprised to fine you two here, don’t you have activities starting soon?” She questions. You’re confused on how she knows your names.. your girl names you quickly correct. But you don’t have time to think on it as you have to quickly come up with a response.
“We were just getting some final things we needed to start when we ran into a pair of campers who thought they’d go get some of the food in our lodge” As the words exit your mouth you are silently shocked at how naturally it all came out. You spoke with much more maturity than you ever thought you could, and never have you ever talk to an adult while acting like an equal authority so easily.
The new Counsellor seems to buy this explanation and shakes her head disappointment “So early in the summer and the kids are already getting into all sorts of trouble. Who were they?”
Taylor is the next to jump in “The little rascals were Betsy Queen and Daisy O’Brian. We sent them away for now since we both really gotta go get to them rule ‘biding campers who are waiting for us to supervise their activities” Taylor also spoke with such an amazing air of confidence when speaking to the other Counsellor. You are confused on where the names came from, now that you think about it you are pretty sure those are actually their surnames.. altjouht you’re not sure where you heard it.
The Counsellor gives a nod “Good, good. I can go take care of ‘em if you two need” she offers.
Inside you slightly panic. If they are allowed to be punished by an actual Counsellor they will have even more trouble investigating. But then you get an idea. If you offer to oversee the punishment then no only will you be able to make it so their ability to investigate isn’t too restricted, but you may be able to subtly pusj them in the right direction.
“There’s no need. I’ll watch over the little trouble makers at night. I’ll make sure neither of time have any stupid ideas again” it seems you’ve perfected your act as the voice which exits your mouth truly sounds like what you recall disappointed teachers speaking with when talking about detentions and suspensions.
The Counsellor nods, statisfed “Sounds good Brooke. Now I better stop keeping you and let the both of you get to your activities” she says before beginning to take her leave.
For some reason you feel a desire to pick up one of the satchels on a near by table, as you pick it up you go “I believe Miss Queen is in my lake activty. And Miss O’Brian is in your tree climbing activity isn’t she Taylor?” You suddenly blurt our for reasons unknown to you. It sounded like the right thing to say... it’s all part of tje act you tell yourself.
Taylor simply mods, seemingly unsurprised by your comment “That’s right. We’ll both have to keep an extra eye on the rascals. Make sure they don’t go getting up to no mischief during them. No if y’all excuse me I better go get on to the tree climbing range” Taylor then leaves out the door. Seeing no option for yourself besides following her less you also quickly leave out and begin instinctively heading to the Lake.
