Although it is still dark out, your eyes have been better attuned to low light as of late, and to your surprise, you see the carriage has entered the long drive before an impressive yet normal-looking mansion. If anything, you are shocked by how...well...normal it looks. You do not know what you were expecting, but somehow you thought a vampire's home would be like a dark haunted castle out of a fairy tale. Instead, the entrance is cheerily lit, and you can see a few servants standing outside awaiting their master's return.
As the carriage comes to a halt, you gently shake awake Elisa and Garn. Elisa, remembering the situation, gives the marquis a sharp look and alights with the driver's help, but Garn is still drowsy, so you figure you will have to carry him. However, without warning, Marquis Rajes turns after dismounting the carriage and easily lifts Garn into his arms from your awkward hold on him, then offers you a hand. While you are a bit flustered at his help, you get down, but Elisa glares at the marquis and rushes to your side. Taking her hand, you follow the marquis, still holding Garn, past the row of servants into the mansion. While you are slightly dumbfounded, you still take note that all the servants you see, except for the centaurs which pull the carriage, appear human. Do they not know Marquis Rajes is a vampire?
"Mrs. Ensar will see you to your rooms, Miss Vauntier," Marquis Rajes turns to you in the entryway and states, gently returning a sleeping Garn to your embrace. "Rest well, and I will have the servants provide refreshments. We will discuss your employment this evening." Before you can think to reply, the marquis smiles at you and nods, then turns to follow the old gentleman who drove the carriage, whom you assume is the marquis' butler or valet, deeper into the mansion.
"If you please, Miss?" an older lady with a strict but reliable look asks, and you can only assume she is Mrs. Ensar. You nod and follow her, Garn cradled in one arm and the other hand clutched by Elisa.
"I hope these rooms are to your satisfaction, Miss," Mrs. Ensar states as she indicates the area where you and your siblings will lodge for the day.
