A Game of Change

Strange Beauty

added by Someone 4 years ago O

Corbin was pretty good at video games. At least he likes to think he is after all of the RPG's and adventure games he's played. He can usually make his way through a difficult area pretty strategically. So when it comes to exploring this new place he knew he had to be careful. Usually in video games, the prison setting is just an excuse for more enemies and up till now Corbin has only encountered one. It seems to him that whatever this game was planning for him, it was going to be slow and long. If there was no escape from this world, then he had to adapt to it.

In real life he had now got quite accustomed to the larger keyboard in front of him. He hadn't appreciated before the fine details on it. It was obviously made of leather but that didn't explain how it worked. Maybe it was magic, in his current state that wouldn't be too far out of reach. There was no cable coming out the keyboard, which made Corbin think for a second. Perhaps the game changes the controls based of the player. Corbin couldn't say he was that adept at using a keyboard, but he at least felt comfortable playing the game and with that in mind he was sort of enjoying the treatment he has had so far.

Yeah the previous trial was a bit...much, but outside of that the changes he has recieved have been remarkable. IRL he could flex his giant bicep and watch the vein pulsate with blood. This was him now, this god of a human. This beast. He wanted to just embrace it, give in to his new body. But he knew that the game had more for him, and if he stopped he didn't know what the game would do. So with this in mind he continued forward.

The rocky surfaces of the cave he was in had now transitioned into bricks of granite. The rock was slightly decayed though, making Corbin suspect this prison wasn't being looked after. Further ahead he saw the hallway widen, into what he expected to be a large room. He continued forward into that room. To Corbins suprise the room architectually speaking wasn't that bad. Pillars lined the exterior of the room, in each one were carved figures of some creature which Corbin couldn't identify. To the back of the room there was two arches which led out of it. They were enourmous, large enough to fit Corbin three times over. But the most notable thing about the room was a giant fountain in the middle, out of the top came a liquid which run down the structure in an elegant dream-like manner. It was strangely beautiful. Corbin couldn't identify the liquid from this distance so he decided to get closer.

He looked into the bottom of the fountain and saw to his horror, a deep red colour swirl around. It was blood. Corbin recognised the crimson shade of it. The blood for some reason didn't stain the granite fountain. Instead it left a reddish tint to the brick. At the bottom of the pool Corbin could see flickering, like tiny stars under a blood moon. Corbin assumed they were coins but in this world...they could literally be anything. It made Corbin not want to touch this liquid as well. He didn't enjoy his last encounter with a foreign substance.

Corbin had to come to a decision though, ahead of him were two doors under the arches. He could continue exploring this one room or he could just go out through one of those doors. What does Corbin do?
