The next two weeks passed in almost a dream for everyone in the Maxwell family, for the first couple of days no one wanted to talk about it and finally just over a week before they had to report to the center. Mary walking in to house to find her mother crying at the kitchen table, that caused her to break down and then it was a chain reaction and finally everyone but their father started to talk about what was before them.
Instead of talking about it, he instead focused on work both at his job and around the house. He installed a new drain which could handle a large amount of hair or fur without clogging. Then he looked into the issues with ceiling fans which would get in the way once his son John grew antlers. He never wanted to talk about him becoming a woman or that his wife was becoming a man.
“So do we call Dad Mom and Mom Dad once the turn is done?” inquired Jennifer as Mary sat on her bed talking the morning before they left for the center.
“Not sure.” Admitted Mary “How did your friends take the news?”
“Good for the most part.” Said Jennifer “Helped that Mrs. Nunia is a monster now.”
“Sorry, I forgot about her becoming a Naga.” Stated Mary
“The only thing is that they joke that as a bunny that Mrs. Nunia as a snake will want to eat me.” explained Jennifer “You?”
“Overall not bad.” Lied Mary, her friends where more then helpful and supportive of the change but in high school bullies where a dime a dozen and some of the more religious members had said she was doomed to hell now. That was bad, but the worse was when she told her teammates and the top JV swimmer clapped for joy about now moving up to Varsity because how could she swim in computation with fur and the like slowing her down. That had hurt more then anything.
“Well good night sis.” Said Mary as she moved across the hall and into her own bedroom. Her bags where packed by the door.
She didn’t really remember getting up the next morning, she was told she had gotten up and used the rest room before grabbing her bag and getting into the SUV and closing her eyes falling asleep at once. She didn’t even wake up the entire time they drove to the transformation center, which was a local community college that was renovated into a center for those transforming into monsters.
They checked in and got a family set of rooms, the center didn’t have private rooms for all seven of them so she was sharing with her little sister Jennifer while all shared brothers the largest room and her parents got a room for themselves. Each room had a private bathroom which was nice, a dresser, a large mirror and other normal stuff.
Once checked in, they had to go to the doctors and had their blood drawn and so many measurements done that it was crazy. That actually took most of the day and after a rather quiet family dinner in which no one really wanted to talk they went to bed all of them fearing what changes would come in the morning.
