“Kaitlin careful with those,” Laura exclaimed. Kaitlin jumped, grasping the dice tightly as Laura gasped. “Geez Laura What the hell,” Kaitlin moaned. “Scared the shit out of me I almost dropped these things.”
“Sorry,” Laura moaned, taking a deep breath. “It’s just, those things have already rolled three times. I’m down to 25, another roll and...well I’d rather not think about it.”
Kaitlin furrowed her brow, raising an eyebrow as she gazed at the much younger Laura. “Wait these things rolled three times already?”
Laura rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly as she blushed crimson. “Well the first time was an accident,” she muttered. “And then well, I was 36 so what would a few more years be? I mean who doesn’t want to be 29 again.”
“Yeah but still,” Kaitlin exclaimed. “I mean Laura your only 25 now. If the dice roll again you could end up anywhere between 23 and what? 13!?”
Laura shuddered, 13, back in junior high. Back to being the taller than average girl with the thin frame and awkward appearance. Laura hates how she looked at that age, she had been taller than a lot of the guys and possessed a stick like frame. True she grew into her body eventually, gaining an impressive chest, lovely curves and even sprouting up five more inches leaving her 5’10” but still, it wasn’t her greatest age. “Okay yeah dumb move on my part,” she sighed.
“Duh,” Kaitlin scoffed. Sighing the two women now looked over the packaging, trying to find anything that could help. Both women now gazed curiously at a crinkled piece of paper inside the box. “Was that there before,” Kaitlin asked. Laura shook her head as she now smoothed out the paper. “It says the dice are called the Regressing Lots,” she read.
“So What does it say,” Kaitlin asked.
“Well pretty much what we’ve figured out so far,” Laura shrugged. “Each roll of the dice returns your youth based on the number you roll. That means with every roll I get 2 to 12 years younger.” Laura’s eyes now went wide as she continued reading.
“What,” Kaitlin said nervously, noticing her friends apprehension.
“It says that the dice bonded to me,” she whispered. “But, if someone handles the dice one of them will bond to that person as well. The power would then be divided between the two people.”
Kaitlin’s jaw dropped as she now gazed at the two dice rating in her hand. As much as she wanted to just drop them she now worried that one of them was now connected to her. If the dice rolled, would she begin growing younger as well? “So how do we stop this,” Kaitlin asked, her throat tightening.
“If we return the dice to this address we might be able to stop this, maybe even go back to normal.”
“Are you sure,” Kaitlin asked. Laura shrugged as she continued reading over the paper. “I..I can’t be sure if I’ll go back to being 43,” she said stoically. “I might be stuck but it seems like the only way to get rid of them and we should hurry, it says the dice are enchanted. They want to be rolled.”
Kaitlin gulped as the two women now looked between the dice and the address to Restart Rd. If the two of them were going to avoid ending up as children, they needed to return these dice and they needed to return them fast.
