The day was nothing short of horrible as the girls sat in the living room watching modern society begin to fall. All the girls reached out their parents and family members to very mixed results.
Rose reached out to her mother, Rose was an only child to a single mother and had a few minutes to talk to her before the line went dead. During that time, she found out her mother was infected and had already started changing, no idea what but she now had fur on her arms.
Taylor and Stacy did manage to get through to their parents both of whom lived in small towns which hadn’t broken out into rioting yet. Stacy’s parents talked about coming to get her, but she informed them that crossing multiple states would take more then a day and odds are she would begin turning before they arrived. It was better to have them stay home and watch her younger brothers.
Lisa didn’t get through to her parents but did get a hold of her older brother and his family, that is when she learned of their plan to go the cabin in the Upper Peninsula that their grandparents owned. Their parents where already on the way there. She cried as she made him promise to tell their parents she loved them, she then talked to her sister-in-law and her little niece who asked if she was coming on the camping trip. She was only three and didn’t understand what was going on not that many people did.
Monica and Amanda parents both lived in major cities, they reached out to their parents only to not go through, they attempted to call other family members all failed. They attempted to contact them through social media only to find that was starting to fall apart as well.
“MY GOD!” yelled Amanda as they watched the news which showed images of her hometown, a suburb of Washington DC. It was burning and no one was attempting to put out the fires, humans and monsters where fighting in the streets.
They spent the day, watching as society began to fall. World leaders spoke on TV all from secure locations around the world. Religious leaders also spoke some for calm others not. Now some leaders among monsters where calling for the imprisonment of humans and that the time of humans where up and it was the time of the monsters.
The hours dragged on with on one saying or doing much more then watching the news, Amanda kept touching the two lumps on her head and Taylor kept trying to brush her short brown hair over the horn in her forehead.
For the first time ever Stacy and Rose attempted to cook everyone a meal, Amanda was in no position to cook so the meal wasn’t up to the normal level. The lights flickered a bit but remained on, the university’s solar farm providing power for the school and the town. But how long until food stopped coming in, how long until riots broke out. The police couldn’t keep order forever.
“Maybe we should consider leaving?” inquired Rose
“Where to?” inquired Monica of which no one had a good answer.
“I personally wouldn’t want to be on the move while transforming.” added Stacy as Rose nodded her agreement, she hadn’t considered that.
“Best we stay here, we have power and we have enough food to last a while.” offered Taylor as all the girls nodded in agreement, even as the lights flickered over the table.
