The truck quickly arrived at the Greenhouse. This was one of the quieter exhibits in the Zoo as it was a long way from the main entrance.
Nevertheless, it was still a beautiful place. Colourful exotic plants covered the floors, walls and ceiling, while a wide variety of insects busily flew between them.
Dr Jenkins usually liked coming here for the peace and tranquillity it provided. But today the doctor was feeling fear and anger; after all, he didn’t want to end up as a permanent part of the attraction.
The two men led Dr Jenkins to a smaller glass outhouse where he presumed they stored some of the plants. Once there, they pushed the doctor inside and they ordered him to go through another door at the far end of the structure.
He approached gingerly as the two men kept their eyes on him. He tried to look through the door’s window but it looked dark inside. Confused, the doctor slowly touched the doorknob.
However, he instantly recoiled as he felt a sudden stab of pain in his hand. He looked down at his hand, and then back at the doorknob. It took him a moment for him to spot, but eventually he found the sharp point of a syringe slightly extending from the knob’s surface.
He started to panic as he wandered if he had been injected with something; and if so, what? At first he dared to hope that he was still OK. But soon he felt his heart start to race as pain gripped his entire body.
He yelled out to the two men as they walked away, seemingly showing no remorse for dooming the cruel doctor.
