Gathering their things Laura and Anna now made their way back to her home. Trying to get any work done at this point would be fruitless for Laura, she was too preoccupied with the fact she could end up a teenager or worse before everything was said and done. What also concerned Laura was Anna. The formerly elderly cleaning woman seemed to have embraced the idea of regaining her youth and was only too anxious to keep rolling. Fearing that things could spiral out of control and leave the two of them too young to drive.
After leaving a quick note for Kaitlin, Laura and Anna drove to Laura’s apartment. After the divorce Laura had moved into a small condo close to work. As the two entered Anna glanced around, nodding as she took in her surroundings. “You have a nice place Ms. Peters.”
Laura shrugged as she looked at her place. A one bedroom, one bathroom apartment condo with a kitchen and open living room plan. “It’s not much,” she sighed. “But it’s mine. After the divorce my ex husband and I sold our home a split the profit. I was able to buy the place outright. It’s simple but gets the job done.”
“Well it looks nice,” Anna said as she now eagerly looked at the dice once more. “So can I roll them now?”
Laura sighed, her shoulders slumping as she looked at the woman. “Just don’t get too carried away please,” Laura groaned. “I’m going to go dig some old clothes out of storage for us. Pretty sure I have some old jeans and sweats from college that are still in good shape.” As Laura began to make her way towards the bedroom she noticed Anna race to where the dice sat. As the woman picked up one of the dice and tossed it, Laura wondered how far she would go.
“Twenty four years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but Twenty three. Each roll of the dice shall return more of what you have lost.” Laura’s eyes went wide as she turned to see Anna fearfully looking at her. “Sorry I rolled the wrong one,” she said sheepishly. Laura now watched as the orbs of light floated off of her body. The transformation was subtle at best as a year melted away from Laura. As the lights vanished Laura quickly ran to the bathroom to examine her face in the mirror. She still looked like a young adult woman freshly out fo college. “Glad it’s only one die I’m connected too,” she thought. “I can afford a year but I’d hate to see what’s going to happen if this goes much farther.”
“Anna you need to be careful,” Laura lectured. “I’d rather not get any younger if you don’t mind. I’m only twenty three now! Really don’t want to end up back in school.”
“Don’t worry Laura it won’t happen again,” Anna smiled as she picked up the silver die. As she let it clatter onto the table she closed her eyes as she waited for the regression to begin.
“Thirty five years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but thirty. Each roll of the dice returns more of what you have lost.” Anna smiled as the orbs once more floated off her body. Much like Laura the changes were not as dramatic as before. Anna’s face smoothed, while any excess weight melted off the petite woman. As the lights vanished Anna examines herself, finding her breasts appeared perkier while her waist had narrowed slightly. “Really Love How this feels,” she grinned.
“Just try not to get to carried away please,” Laura groaned. “A big enough roll could put you back in high school or worse. We may need those years in case we can’t get to the Magic Shop. Besides, not sure how much of my old clothes I have lying around.”
“You worry to much Ms. Peters,” Anna giggled. “Why don’t you get changed and relax. It would be nice to just have a girls night in and enjoy our youth.” Laura nodded, sighing as she made her way to the bedroom. She had a nagging feeling things were going to be a bit overwhelming before the night was over.
