Holy shit! I must have used all my luck left this year. A total hottie invited me! Yes, me! He invited me to be his prom date on this week's Prom night. It's Jason fucking Finch, the school Soccer champion and a full out chad. We've been friends for like two years now and I thought his fascination with me was all platonic. But when he asked me at the boy's bathroom, I couldn't contain the excitement. An immediate "Yes" came out from my mouth. He even whispered that I should follow him to his dorm after the dance. I know what he meant by that and damn, I sure am excited.
In my youthful bliss, I didn't realize the swerving white truck headed my way. Even if I tried to turn away my bike, it was too late. The truck was fast and it hit and killed me instantly. Is this the end? Memories flooded my mind. Memories of my childhood, my years of being bullied, the time I tried to fight back and up until this day with Jason. It sucks that I won't get to have sex with him in his penthouse dorm.
The darkness enveloped my mind and for a time, I drifted in the void. And as quickly as I died, a breath of life entered my being.
"Where am I?" I asked. Everything around me looks crystalline bright. There's no Sun in this place but the light seems to be pouring from everywhere. And in front of me was this kneeling man facing my direction. "Hello?"
"Before you ask anything, cause I know you'll ask something, please allow me to apologize down to the very bottom of my infinite heart." The man was half-crying and half-screaming which is putting every weirdness in this scenario.
"Who are you and where the fuck am I?" I remember dying and it was a miracle that my sense of pain barely registered that force of that truck. "Am I dead?"
"I'm God. You're in Purgatory. And yes, you are dead."
Religion wasn't my thing but I know that purgatory is like a bus stop away to heaven. I know I didn't do that many evil sins and I didn't do any Samaritan deeds either. Ohhh... that's why I'm in purgatory.
"That's not why you're in Purgatory."
Wait, what? Did that guy just read my thoughts?
"Yes, I did. I'm god, remember?"
Of course. He looks like one too. The bearded guy depicted in most movies or media. All this time, I thought he'd look like Jordan Freeman. Suddenly, a flash of light sparked everywhere. When it died down, the old man was gone. In his place is Jordan Freeman, with the freckles and everything. "This better?" he asked. Oh my god, even his voice. "I know you're going to ask why am I am apologizing 48 seconds ago. "
"I-" Well yeah, that's what I'm about to ask him.
"The answer is that I'm the one who killed you. You're also going to ask how? I'm bored in heaven and I thought it was good to possess a human body for a day. I know it would dampen most of my godly powers and like always, I was right. I've operated heaven for eternity so, on my bright mind, I thought that I could operate a truck like the body I'm possessing. Well, you know the rest of the story. Aren't you going to say something?"
"Why would I? You know everything I'll say."
"I know. I've consulted with my pal death and he said that you weren't supposed to die right now. The guy is pissed to the bones. He's even giving me the silent treatment. So to get on his good side again, I need to revive you again. But..." He trailed off, "There is one problem."
"What is it?''
"Your body is dead. Your head is split in the middle and your bones. Especially the bones."
"Can't you fix it? You're god!"
"I can but that would be unfair to the rest of your kind. If I revive you then other dead souls from your world would want to be revived too. So I devised a solution. You will be revived, not in your world but another. Somewhere more exciting than yours and more enticing. I'll watch over your journey so I won't get bored in heaven again." God flicked his fingers and a portal opened right beside him. I tried to peer further but it's just a yellow arc with wisps of energy. "Also before I forgot, which I don't. Here." An orb of light appeared at tips of his finger and shot straight to my heart. Rather, I feel the energy eat me from within. It did not hit my heart, it hit my soul.
"What was that?"
"A parting gift. You'll know what it is once you get to your new body."
"New body!?"
Before I could get any answers out of him, he kicked me straight to the portal. I appeared in the sky of some expansive land. There's land as far as the eye can see. My whole soul is falling at increasing speeds. Below me is,
