After a short drive, the woman pulls into the parking lot of a mall. Laura looks around confused.
"I don't think this is where the magic store is supposed to be."
"Don't worry sweetheart. I just have a few errands to run before we head over there."
Great. Laura is liking this alliance less and less every minute. Knowing "mommy" cared as much about her input as an actual 3 year old's, Laura bites her tongue.
After being unbuckled, Laura finds she's forced to hold mommy's hand before they can proceed. As Laura takes awkward steps with her bulky boots while trying to match the adult's pace, she finds herself envious of Timmy who has no such difficulties. The thought of being jealous of a kindergartner makes her feel as young as she is being treated. Once inside, Laura is led over to the children's play area. They step inside and mommy crouches down to her level.
"I need you to be a big girl for me ok? Stay here and play while I get some things done. I'll be back soon."
"You know I'm a big girl. I can come with you."
"Big girls don't whine or talk back to their mommies. You'll wait here and that's final, understand?"
"Yes mommy."
"Good."
