Author’s note: whoops switched between perspectives last chapter.
Eventually someone does come and spots Aaron, they walk over to you.
“Hello sir please follow me.” She says as he gets up to see her.
“Uh... hello, I assume you’re the Uh.. enrolment administrator?” He guesses. Hoping that he’s finally able to resolve this confusion.
“That’s right, please follow me” she says before turn and walking away from him. Aaron almost running to catch up due to his out of shape nature, he try to get her attention.
“Actually I’m-“
But she cuts him off with a swift “Sorry but please follow me before we can begin enrolment”
Annoyed but not wanting to cause a scene you follow along. Not causing a scene has been a major concern of his for years, it’s the only way you get by at work and at home. His neighbours would destroy him if word about him having an outburst at a high school got spread across their rumour mill.
Following behind her you’re eventually led into a room which seems to be a library. Some shelves and tables with chairs make up the room.
He’s led to a table with some pamphlets, forums and a bottle of water.
“Please take a look at these and fill this out while I meet with some other students. I will be back soon.” The administrator states before rushing back out the door,
Aaron is momentarily confused by the ‘other students’ comment but supposes it’s a slip of the tongue, she seems artfully over worked, something he can relate to. Sitting down he suppose he’ll have to stay here for the time being. He doesn’t want to be some strange 47 year old wondering around a school so he decides that staying where he was told to stay was the best course of action.
He does take out his cell phone however, wanting to send a message to say where he is and that he might take a while. At least he don’t have work anytime soon.
But as soon as he takes it out a cough comes from the other end of the room, turning his attention Aaron spots a librarian pointing to a ‘No Phones’ sign.
“Uh but I was was just going to call my-“
“No phones. No exceptions. Doesn’t matter if you haven’t filled out the forums, so long as you’re in this school you follow the rules. Put your phone in the box, it’ll be returned before you leave.”
Rather annoyed, he nonetheless comply. This librarian is oddly intimidating despite probably being somewhat younger than him, plus he supposes taking out a phone in a library wasn’t the best idea in the first place anyway.
“Sure... sure.. fine” Aaron says as he walk over and gently place it within, it’s very expensive so he’ll have to make a note to make sure there are no damages. As he does he briefly notes that the librarian seems slightly taller close up, he’s still taller but something about her seems bigger. He decides to keep these thoughts to himself however.
He then sits down at the table to wait. The chair seems a tad too small for comfort at first but after some wriggling around it gets slightly more bearable. After a while he reluctantly takes a look at the pamphlet out of boredom.
It seems aimed at students oddly enough, he supposes a school run poorly enough to sent a letter to the wrong house wouldn’t be much better with giving the correct pamphlets.
Mostly the standard stuff about student responsibilities and what happens at the school. The forum meanwhile seems also aimed at students, asking them about what clubs or actives and electives they want to take. He takes a drink of water, surprisingly refreshing, as he decides what to do next.
