The first girl who Elspeth called on to get the lesson flowing again was a surprisingly muscular (and unsurprisingly gorgeous) girl, who’s silver bob cut hair and massive build that rivaled even Suzanne in terms of stature gave her among one of the most distinctive appearances of all the girls in the class. The girl reported to Elspeth in a heavy Norwegian accent, and walked over to James, who was still covered in soot from Suzanne’s irresponsible behavior.
The girl, who seemed quiet and reflective, raised a hand to her chin and thought briefly, muttering to herself something James couldn’t understand. Before long, she had her hand raised, and was about to cast her spell, when suddenly Elspeth stepped in to make an announcement.
“Er, everyone. Don’t use your magic to clean James. He..... he needs to be a..... an example of how unsafe magic use can have adverse effects for the rest of this lesson.”
Some of the girls giggled, others muttered confusedly, some started writing notes in their journals, and others began to look sympathetically at James. From out of the corner of his eye, however, James noticed Elspeth give him a fast wink that he was almost certain only he had seen, which further fueled his curiosity about what she had said earlier. What was she aiming at? Why was he to pick one of the girls? Why couldn’t they use their magic to clean him? What was-?
Before he could ponder any further, Carly used her magic to transform James.
