Jess woke up to see Rex still inside her again. She smiled, seeing her lover sleep peacefully.
She couldn't help but wonder when the eggs would hatch. It could be weeks, or it could be-
*CRACK*
"OH MY GOSH, REX, WAKE UP"
The male snake woke with a start, and quickly kissed his mate. "What is it?"
"Our clutch is hatching!" Jess said ecstatically. Rex pulled out and quickly slithered with his wife over to the nest that held their clutch, the first egg cracking to reveal a little reptilian head, which withdrew to crack the rest of the shell, until the shell fell apart, to reveal an adorable baby snake. Jess felt her heart fill as she slithered over to her baby and flicked off the fluids of the egg with her tongue. The child looked up to her and nuzzled against her, the child recognizing the larger snake as her mother. "She's beautiful." Rex said as he slithered up to his mate and daughter. Jess nuzzled up to him as the rest of the eggs hatched, a total of 6 boys and 6 girls. Names would come later, now was the time to make first impressions for the children, so they will know just how much their parents love them. The children slithered around their parents, learning basic functions, and nuzzling them. Jess was in love. She had a caring mate, a dozen adorable children, and no need to return to her old life. The memories would remain, but she didn't need them. She had the rest of her life ahead of her, and she would spend it with her mate and children.
Her oldest slithered up to her and uttered her first word in the snake language; "Mommy?"
Jess looked down to her daughter.
"Yes, Mary, I'm your mommy." She said as tears came down from her reptilian eyes.
