Elspeth, for the first time James could remember seeming more than a little rattled, looked down at the next mythical creature Melanie had been transformed into and sighed with a mixture of relief and exasperation.
"Seriously?" The witch shot a cynical look at James "We were on the verge of death and you decide it's time to bring to life one of your sordid sexual fantasies?"
"Mel, are you ok? Do you remember me?" James asked urgently, concerned only for her wellbeing at this point.
"Of course I remember you" Mel looked puzzled, then a little concerned as she surveyed the room "what happened here?"
"You don't remember being a dragon?"
"A dragon?" Mel's eyes widened in amazement "i remember being a pig, then...you mean I did this?"
James nodded.
"It's fine Mel, the only thing that matters is that you're ok" he smiled with relief.
"Speak for yourself" Elspeth rolled her eyes again, though she was surprisingly calm "I have guests coming in less than an hour and no dining room!"
"So this is what you like huh?" Mel looked down at her fish tail then back at James mischievously.
It was only at that point James was really able to take in Melanie as a mermaid. And he could hardly deny liking what he saw. She was instantly recognisable but with her brown hair now black and flowing to her waste rather than her shoulders. Her already beaitiful breasts seemed to have been given a temporary size boost too.
"Um, I mean now you come to mention it.." James smiled back
"Ugh, get a room you two" Elspeth folded her arms in dissaproval "Anyway, it's time for the next transformation."
"I don't want to Mistress" James shook his head "I can't risk hurting Mel"
"Believe me, oh mighty mage, I can sort out any problems your misfiring magic causes" Elspeth amswered sarcastically, before a wave of her arm transformed her dining room back to it's former glory "and if I decide to let you keep your powers you will need all the practice you can get"
"You can practice with me whenever you want" the mermaid chipped in quickly "Please ma'am, let James keep his powers. If he can perform a dragon transformation already.."
"Yes, I agree. Against all odds he does have potential which it would be a shame to waste" Elspeth seemed to half smile and half frown.
"So, wait I'm a wizard now?" Janes asked excitedly, his bizarre day improving once again.
Melanie nodded and giggled happily.
'Apprentice wizard" Elspeth corrected him quickly "and we'll see how it goes"
