Laura considers telling the truth, but realizes she'd never believe it from someone dressed like her. So, she pulls a lie with enough truth she can appear sincere.
She puts on her best innocent eyes and speaks, "I'm not a baby. I'm five a mean boy was messing with me and I ended up dressed like this. I wanted to borrow clothes from here so I could go home. I'm sorry."
Laura used to be good at convincing her parents of whatever she wanted, much to her brother's annoyance. Hopefully that works on him now. She sees her brother process the statement and after a long pause he speaks.
"Well you're definitely too well spoken to be a baby. You shouldn't enter other people's homes though young lady..." His face now shows obvious sympathy, "... on the other hand I suppose you weren't in an easy situation. Alex find some clothes you don't mind parting with for our guest. I'll wait outside."
Laura breathes a sigh of relief and pulls off the embarrassing outfit. Alexis offers her some black sweat pants and a faded blue shirt.
"Thanks," she says marveling at how strange it is to look at her niece on an equal level.
"No problem. Sorry I called you a baby. I can't believe some boy made you dress up like that."
Laura slips the dice into her pocket and finds indignation easy to find, "I know! I hope the big jerk gets what's coming to him!"
Alexis nods a yells through the door that Laura is dressed. Dan re-enters the room and does a double take.
"Wow I didn't see it before, but you too could be twins!" Laura blushes deeply, "Anyway now that you're dressed..."
