There was something stronger than the surface feelings of sexual desire that had sprung up at the sight of Kim's naked body: you miss her. You miss the jokes you shared, the movies you watched together, and just being with someone that closely. The breakup hasn't been that long ago, and you have to admit you still haven't gotten over it. Maybe you could use the ring to help win her back - although some part of you knows you shouldn't try to force it. Instead, you decide to share the ring with her. That would surely make you close again.
"Oh, hey, Kim!" you say, acting surprised as if you had just seen her. "How are you doing?"
"I'm...not sure," Kim said. "I feel like something just happened to me, but..." She seems to realize who she's talking to, and her tone suddenly grows wary. "Nevermind. How are you?"
"I'm doing pretty good, actually," you say, forcing a smile in spite of her tone. You can't let yourself be discouraged, not with this ring at your disposal. "Actually, I just got a wishing ring. It's pretty cool."
"A wishing ring?" Kim says dubiously.
"Yeah," you say. "You know, a ring that lets you make any wish you want, and it comes true."
"Uh-huh..." Kim said, sounding like she thinks you're a little crazy. This isn't going the way you hoped.
"It does," you insist. "Watch - I wish I had a hundred-dollar bill in my hand." Instantly, you feel a crisp $100 bill appear in your hand, and you hold it up. Kim laughs.
"Nice magic trick," she says. "Look, I have to get going, but it was nice-"
"Okay, fine, I wish that you would believe me," you say quickly. It was the first thing that came to mind, and you feel a little stupid saying it. You aren't even sure it will work, since you don't know how powerful the ring really was, but Kim blinks.
"Oh," she says, her disinterest evaporating. "Oh, wow!"
"I know, right?" you say, grinning. "Pretty cool. So, what should we wish for?" You deliberately use "we" to make it feel like you are doing this together, just like the old days.
"Here, let me try," Kim says, holding out her hand.
"That won't work," you say, shaking your head. You tug at the ring to show her it wouldn't come off, thanks to your first wish.
"Alright, fine," Kim said. "Just wish for me to have a ring like that."
