Laura can’t wait any longer. She needs to leave, now.
“Hungwy,” she says to Tristan. Tristan looks over at her. “Hungwy,” she repeats. She fights back a grimace at the discovery that this additional regression to two has decreased her ability to speak. She meant to say “I’m hungry.”
“You’re hungry?” Tristan asks. Laura nods. “Okay. It should be time for cake soon. I’ll go grab some for you.” Tristan gets up and leaves. After a couple moments, Laura decides to make her escape. She pushes over the playpen, crawls out, and grabs her backpack. Then, she heads to the back of the house, planning on exiting through a back door.
On her way, she passes by a little girl’s room, littered with clothes. She grabs a costume dress and puts it on, then continues her walk. Laura arrives at a back door, but she can’t budge it. To her relief, there’s a doggy door just her size. She crawls through the doggy door, and as she does, her diaper presses against her, making her realize that she wet herself at some point.
Now in the backyard, Laura looks around. It’s fenced in. The only way to escape is by walking around the side of the house, but if she does that right now, she’ll be spotted by the partygoers. As she tries to decide her next course of action, her thumb goes to her mouth instinctively, and she sucks on it for comfort. After a moment of deliberation, she toddles over to a nearby bush to hide until the party is over. Once everyone’s gone, she can sneak out.
When Laura sits on the ground, she feels something mushy smear against her butt. She sucks on her thumb harder, tears pricking the corners of her eyes. Not only did she mess herself, she did it without realizing! Her thoroughly soiled diaper is very unpleasant to sit in, but if she tries to go back inside to grab a new diaper, she might get caught.
