The Ultimate Fashion Mall

Jason thought of the shoe store and how much everything about it had improved. Why not just extend that improvement to the rest of the mall? Sure, a mall would already be pretty fashion oriented, but what would a mall specifically for the fashion community look like? Without thinking too much about it, he selected the word “surrounding” and replaced it with “fashion.” Just as his finger hit the enter button, he briefly wondered whether he should have gone outside first.

FLASH!

Jessica blinked as light blinded her for a second, almost causing her to stumble. Thankfully, she managed to regain her balance and keep walking. Wait, where was she going? Inspecting her surroundings, she could see crowds of people standing on either side, their eyes following her every movement. A few of them had cameras, probably the source of that flash. But where was she? She seemed to be walking on a long raised pathway, putting her well above the crowd’s heads. Lights from below and above lit the glossy white path evenly, putting everything on it, namely her, in high definition.

Was she on a stage?

No, a runway!

This realization cleared up the foggy confusion in Jessica’s brain. That’s right! This was a fashion show, and she was one of the models! How could she forget?

Trying to make up for her lapse, she redoubled her energy. Stepping expertly in the high heels propping up her feet, she moved with a practiced stride that showed off her perfect figure and, more importantly, the look she was displaying. This was her job, and she loved everything about it! Well, everything except annoying people who forgot the no flash photography rule. A model could break her neck if she got blinded and tripped.

Oh well, that was the only downside of having a mall that hosted fashion shows to the general public thanks to its built-in runway and great connections. While most of the audience was mostly made up of designers, collectors, journalists, and fellow models, there would always be one or two outsiders coming to gawk. They were certainly welcome to do so, but they usually lacked basic etiquette.

Still, this mall was a great spot for anyone interested in cutting edge fashion. All the stores here sold the best creations of top designers, many of whom had debuted their work on this very runway. Stars, fashionistas, and of course, models, often shopped here. Jessica, herself, was a frequent visitor both on and off the job.

When she got to the end of the runway, Jessica paused and struck a few poses before heading back. Once backstage, she breathed a sigh of relief. Walking down the runway was a lot more stressful than it looked. Quickly, she passed by countless other models, all rushing about in barely controlled chaos as they readied themselves. Groups of helpers, from makeup artists to stylists, bustled around them, touching up their appearance and helping them fasten hard to reach parts of their clothing.

Going over to her designated station, Jessica found…
