Cindy paced impatiently back and forth, waiting for Mara to return; as the bell rang, she sighed and slumped up against the wall. “Three guesses what’s holding her up” she muttered to herself, as students streamed past her towards the doors. She kept an eye out for Mara as she tried to remember what she had to get to next.
That was when she saw a familiar face in the crowd.
As soon as she got over her initial shock, she was racing through the throng, pushing people aside. Her body, though, was quickly moving out of sight on the far side of the thick crowd, and by the time she got to the other side and out to the gates there was no sign of her. To make matters worse, as she ran down them the stairs proved too much of a challenge for her precarious balance in Steve’s body, and she found herself faceplanting on the concrete path. Pushing herself to her feet, she looked around to find nothing but abandoned grounds. “Damnit!” she hissed. Turning around, she jumped backwards at Rick’s tall body overshadowing her.
“Oh! Hey, Kelvin. You scared me!” she sighed. “Sorry” his new body’s deep voice replied, “What’s happening? I saw you running.” “My body’s around here. Now. And two more people have been swapped.” Kelvin was silent at the news, and what looked almost like a flash of fear passed across his face. Cindy continued; “I’m gonna go searching for it; I don’t think whoever it is realised I saw them. Can you keep an eye out?” “Sure” replied Kelvin, and watched her stalk off. Turning around, he began to jog away on a hunt of his own; he had no idea what Rick was up to, but he didn’t want Cindy screwing things up for him.
