Jess spends the rest of the ceremony and the start of the reception as the center of attention. Those who think she's a real toddler, stop by to shower her with praise for how good a job she did. Most of her relatives and Jack's friends give quiet congratulations on giving Jack a taste of his own medicine. Even her new sister-in-law, Rachel, says Jack had probably earned a little embarrassment.
The only two that seem particularly bent out of shape are Jack and mom. Jack mostly avoids her or, when he sees judging eyes, makes a show of being a good "big brother".
Mom on the other hand decides that if Jess "wants to be a baby she'll be treated like one". Mom expected the endless baby talk, or being forced to drink from a sippy cup, or having her food cut into tiny pieces to be enough to force an apology.
Jess doesn't break though. Instead she accepts the treatment and acts like a perfect angel. Nothing but "pwease mommy"s or "fank you mommy"s from her. Eventually mom gives up trying and dumps her in an area blocked off for children to play. Jess suddenly feels a bit nervous. Most of the kids are larger than her and who knows how rough they'll play with her without any supervision.
