For a moment, Isaac wanted to reject the fairy's help. After all, the fae were notoriously fickle and difficult to predict. However, unlike the Corrupted, they were not evil by nature. Their presence even kept the darkness at bay, allowing the other more civilized races some time to muster their resistance.
Still, the paladin had her misgivings. "Why did you change me to begin with? How do I know you weren't conspiring with Calmach's minions to put me in here?"
For the first time, the fairy seemed annoyed. "Yuck! How dare you say such a thing! I ought to just leave you in there for even suggesting that, you disgusting human! Goodbye!"
"Wait!" Isaac called out, but the fairy had vanished. "Great. Curse these fairies and their silly moods. Now I'm really stuck."
"Um, excuse me," another voice peeped. "Please forgive my sister. You simply startled her. She hates the Corruption probably more than you do."
Looking up, Isaac saw yet another fairy, this one glowing yellow. "Who are you?"
"Marigold," she answered before blushing. "Oh my, did I just give away my name? Um, please don't use it for any malicious spells or anything. I'm not used to dealing with your kind."
Her shy demeanor and utter naivete was quite the contrast to the other fairy. Isaac found herself trying to reassure her. "Your name is safe with me. I mean you no harm. I just need to get out of here, and I guess you're my only option now. Could you help me?"
Marigold blinked in surprise. "So, you're willing to accept our help?"
"If you are truly intending to help, yes."
