Noah was starting to shiver from the cold. Kaylie brought his head back to the costume and placed it on the teddy bear body and went to zip the outfit back up. She pulled the head back on and zipped it all the way up, putting the zipper in the safety pin. “There now you should be warm again”.
“Yeah, thanks Kaylie”
Kaylie held up the mirror again and Noah saw that he really looked like he was in full costume. This is probably how Ruben looked when he wore the outfit on halloween.
As time went by the two played some more, they played some bored games and Kaylie did some more arts and crafts.
“We should get some lunch” Noah suggested, he looked at the clock and saw it as nearly 12:30. The two went upstairs, Noah looked out the window and saw that it was still snowing even now. When they got to the kitchen he saw that his Dad was already sitting at the table.
“Hey Dad, Kaylie and I are getting hungry. Is there anything we have for lunch?”
Jason looked up and saw that Noah was now wearing face paint. “I see you two have been having some fun.” He winked at Noah. “Let me see, I think I can make some soup with a camp stove.” Jason pulled out the stove and opened some soup for the both of them.
“Thanks Dad, although I think I should take off the bear costume so I can eat.”
“If you think you can handle the cold, go for it.” Jason was encouraging his son since he figured he would be demanding to be let back into it. “Once the soup is done, I’ll unzip it for you. Kaylie, can you grab his hoodie from his room?” Kaylie ran off to Noah’s room.
“I think I can handle this baby sitting thing, Kaylie is pretty chill.” Jason smiled at Noah.
“That’s good because they will probably be staying here for a little while until their house gets fixed, a tree fell on it yesterday. Also Kaylie has been up since the early morning and her mother asked for her to take a nap”
“Sure Dad, I’ll bring it up after lunch. I think I know how to get her to sleep.”
Kaylie walked into the room holding one of Noah’s sweatshirts, now oversized. “Thank you Kaylie. Noah come over here so I can let you out.”
Noah waddled over to his Dad and her unzipped the suit all the way. Noah was glad to stretch but the cold just sliced through him, it really was below freezing in the house.
“Oh wow, your whole face is painted up like a teddy bear, Kaylie did you do this?”
“Yup, my mommy taught me how to face paint!”
Noah pulled his hoodie over him, it went down to his knees and pulled the hood up. “Wow it really is freezing” He walked over to the table as his Dad served the soup. Noah was at least happy he was eating the soup on his own.
Noah ate really quickly and then rushed over to the washroom, he didn’t want to get stuck in the bear and have to ask someone to unzip him. By the time he got back he was absolutely freezing.
“Uh-h-h-h-h, D-d-d-d-a-a-d, C-c-c-a-a-n I G-g-get b-back in the b-b-b-be-ar?” Noah was incredibly cold now.
Noah’s Dad quickly opened it back up and held it out for him. Noah stepped in and in a few minutes he felt a lot better.
“I can’t believe the power is still out, I’ve called around and all the stores are closed too.” Noah’s Dad started explaining. “I am almost done with the work, I just need to check to make sure there is no damage to our house”
“Don’t worry Mister Jason, I am sure it is all fine.”
“Thanks Kaylie, I hope so.”
Noah was finally warm again, he couldn’t wait for the heat to return to the house. Just going to the washroom seemed to be a struggle.
“Okay Kaylie now that lunch is over, what do you want to do now? Noah was trying to prove he was a good babysitter, even if stuck as a teddy bear.
