The mistake that is trust

added by RainingJustice 3 years ago O

Seconds seemed to drag out for hours as she stayed perfectly still, a pair of hands covering her mouth. She couldn't afford to be discovered, not like this. If she was lucky, it'd scare a fairly good assistant halfway to death and leave the poor girl traumatized; if she was truly unfortunate, Jessica might end up getting dissected in a laboratory somewhere. No, no, silence was the best option here.

Or so she thought. After a few more moments of knocking, Samantha spoke up once more. "Ms. Langford, I have that report you... needed... but... you already left..." She trailed off and sighed. For a moment Jessica dared hope that she had given up and would simply head off. Alas, she had hired a young woman who was truly dedicated to doing things right - and who she had been crazy enough to trust. All eight eyes went wide as she heard the jingling of keys and Samantha fumbling with the lock.

She had given Sam those keys specifically so she could drop things off on her desk when she wasn't present - the girl had proved herself reliable enough to deserve that trust. And like a fool, she hadn't considered the possibility that Sam might use it while she was stuck here, in this arachnid form. That possibility was now reality, and she had only seconds to make a decision on what to do.

Not arousing suspicion, she quickly decided, was for the best. In a panic she scurried up the wall and to the ceiling, where the relative darkness - and the simple human tendency to not look up constantly - might give her some ability to hide. She reached the darkest corner just in time, getting herself huddled down as small as possible (which wasn't much, given her massive spidery body) right as Samantha entered. Even at this late hour on a Friday night, her assistant was meticulously put-together, her relative attractive frame hugged by a black suit jacket and skirt and white blosue. Not a single short-cropped blonde hair was out of place as her heels clicked against the tiled floor.

The drider held her breath as Sam placed a couple of folders on her desk, prominently displayed so that they would be visible when next she came in. She took only a few more moments to straighten the folders out, along with another stack of papers on Jessica's desk, before turning to leave. It was during her turn, however, that something caught her eye, and Jessica suddenly realized that she had committed an enormous mistake.

Coating the tiled floor was still a small heap of silky strands, the webbing her excited bosom had produced during the heat of her transformation. A small gasp left Sam's mouth as she approached the pile, hesitantly reaching down to brush her hand against it, then retracting the instant she felt its sticky texture. She began to glance around, seemingly to try and find out what could have left such a horrible mess on her boss' floor. "Hello?" She tentatively spoke up, the risk that she would look up to see Jessica rising every second, "I-is anyone here?"
