Janet cautiously walked under the door into what used to be her bedroom. It became clear that she was much smaller than she first estimated. She was in a forest of massive carpet fibers that towered above her like Redwood trees. She was a millimeter tall at the most. To a normal size person she would look like a speck. This won’t do at all, she thought. Using the amulet, Janet grew to three inches, about a quarter the height of a Barbie doll. Although the Janet was still tiny, she was now big enough to make out the room.
Janet looked up and saw what appeared to be a dresser. By her perspective it was as tall as an office building. Without thinking, she floated above the floor and flew towards it, landing next to an enormous teddy bear. Looking around her, she saw that the room was different. It looked like the bedroom of a young girl. She particularly noticed a dollhouse on the other side of the room from her.
As she wondered whose room this was, Janet heard a loud but familiar sound coming from outside. A few seconds later, the door opened and a girl about 10 years old stepped into the room. To Janet she was 100 feet tall, give or take. She had golden blonde hair and clear blue eyes. She wore a red-colored dress with matching shoes. On her brow was what looked like a jeweled coronet, like the kind European royalty wear. As her colossal girl walked to the dollhouse and got on her knees, Janet saw she was wearing a blue cape with the Supergirl emblem on it. The girl then got up and turned towards the dresser. In a panic Janet tried to hide behind the teddy bear, but the girl casually reached out her right hand and grabbed the three-inch tall woman.
Janet looked up and saw her captor’s enormous face. She tried to break free with her arms, but the giantess’ hold was too strong. How was this possible? Did she somehow lose her powers? Janet’s eyes moved downward to the girl’s torso. The familiar insignia filled her vision. Janet concluded that the young girl had identical abilities to her. It was because of her size she was unable to escape. Janet’s eyes turned back to her captor’s face. She could tell from the giantess face she recognized her.
“MOMMY, IS THAT YOU?” The girl’s voice was the loudest Janet had ever heard.
“What did you call me?” Janet answered, confused. “Who are you?”
The young giantess chuckled. “Are you joking, Mom? I’m Katy, your daughter”
My daughter, Janet whispered. Was Katy telling the truth? Somehow Janet knew she was. She looked up her daughter. Despite her current situation, she had maternal feelings of affection. “I’m just kidding, dear. Could you put me down?”
“Yes, Mom” Katy obeyed, gently putting her tiny mother back on top of the dresser. She still had too many questions. Who’s Katy’s father? Was she married to him? Does Katy have any siblings? Were they superheroes in this world? Why is Katy not too shocked at her mother’s present condition? Janet didn’t want to ask her daughter any awkward questions unless she had to.
Janet spotted an alarm clock next to Katy’s bed. It was about quarter before eleven in the evening. She called out to her gigantic daughter. “Katy, shouldn’t you be in bed?”
“But, Mom …” the young girl protested.
“NO BUTS, YOUNG LADY!” Janet tone was as forceful as she could make it. “I’ll see you in the morning”
“Yes, Mom” Katy sighed. As the girl went to the closet and took out a nightgown, Janet flew out her bedroom and down the hall to what she assumed to be her own bedroom. It was the room of a normal-sized adult woman. She landed on the bed that was as large as a basketball court to her. She considered returning to her normal size, when ….
